Over the next few days i will be writing the background and baisic story for this campaign. it will be based on the "Eisenhorn" books, by Dan Abnett, and you will play apprentice inquisitors, searching for the enemies of mankind.

I will be basing the gameplay on the "Warhammer 40K: Inquisitor" rules, but modified to work online. You may want to read these rules, they are free to download from the Games Workshop site, just google it, it's in the specialist games section. However, you don't need to have read them, as I will be using a number of house rules, as the official set are far from comprehensive, and many of the rules will be changed.

Anyone who is interested in joining the game, post here or pm me
. i am looking for at least 3 players, but would prefer about 6. I will aim to do one major update per week, probably on a sunday afternoon (GMT), and then in between i will organise missions which will be played at a time that suits the largest number of players.

Having perused the downloadable rules, i gotta say they look interesting. I want to look at them with a detailed eye, but unfortunately, meesa gotsa skoo' stuff tudu. I'll go over them in great detail this Friday. Dont wait for me though, i cant guarantee that i have time for this online game, but i will seriously ponder the possibilities.

I followed your link, Thoth, but could not find these down loadable rules. It has been a few years since I played 40K, and have always liked table-top armies. this online stuff sounds good but I would need to at least puruse the rules to now if I would find this kind of RP within my intrest range. Don't care to much for the ol' d&d stuff, but do like fantasy and supers a lot.

Try copying and paisting the link to a new window and let me know how that works. If is doesnt, i'll put the step-by-step in.
--- Merged from Double Post ---
    Here's the step-by-step:
    1) Go to original site: http://www.games-workshop.com/
    2) Top right/grey bar, Find: specialist games. Look for the drop down menu and click Inquisitor
    3) Then Inquisitor Resources, found on the left hand side of page
    4) Then hit link in middle of page: Inquisitor Resources.

And that should give you the pdfs.

My mis-take, Thoth. It seems I understood Senoir Parson's info incorectly. I had assumed the e-rules were a download for some strange reason. Your link worked fine, I just could not locate what I thought I was looking for. My bad!

I'll try to find the rules at, say, perhaps, the Half-Price Book store. If they are not there, well I am to cheap to order them at the local game shop.

from games workshop, i believe the book costs 30, and is hardback. the online rules are far easier to get hold of as well, as the book can only be bought by direct order through games workshop, or second hand.

as i said anyway, you don't actually need to know the rules - i will just explain the actions concept, and the rest is just say what you want to do, and i'll tell you what to roll.

That has been my experience with play-by-post, as well as chat games. What you say is what you do. I do prefer to at least read over the standard rules to get an understanding auf der game style. It helps to focus my characters to the presummed world veiw.

Other wise go ahead and help me set up a character. Your once a week posting my be workable for me, considering my current habbits.

i say once a week for the main posting, but if people have enough spare time, then i could do more times a week. i often get off college early, and have a few hours to myself before i actually go and do anything.

a-parsons: How much time do you figure we need to devote to this PBeM game? I really want to play, but find that i am extremely busy at this time. I also dont want to commit unless i am absolutely sure i can enhance game fun by being an active participant. Let me know for i havent ruled out the game completely, as of yet.

can we set up a private chat room on the chat program built in to the site? :/ because if we can, then maybe an hour to an hour and a half one evening a week, that would be long enough for a game, IF we could use a chatroom. the rest of the work will be me writing it up as a story afterwards

actually, just checked, yes we can, so as i said, an hour, maybe an hour and a half a week, for a mission.

Hmm. Tempting. When is your target date to get this campaign underway?

That may just work for me, and i do understand your college commmitment. My MBA program is seriously cutting into my fun time. It will get worse this summer for me, unfortunately, but in the end it will be well worth it... or so they say.

pbp or pbem is more of my style right now. I have done chat gaming in the past, but am currently stuck with the public library. Thus, my comp time is limited to the number of requests for access at the moment of graciousness. Stinks, but still saving my pennies for a new machine.

hmmm, i should elaborate on college, as a student in the UK, it means something different to those of you who are american

by college, i reffer to the last two years of school, called Sixth Form, for 16-18 year olds.

and as i said, i can be flexible as to when we do missions. and over the next two weeks i am on break for easter anyway, so i can play whenever i am needed lol
--- Merged from Double Post ---
and okay, if people would prefer to go simply toplay by post exclusively, i could do that, but it would probably take 2 weeks to do a mission, plus the write up for it - if everyone takes a single turn in a night, (probably 3-4 actions) maybe, 10 days for a mission? also, that would reduce demand on me, so i wouldn't complain. but the story would progress much slower
