is there a way to control display order of posts? make it more threaded and in specific numerical order?

Try editing the post and changing Publish On to a past date. You should be able to order it chronologically that way. Another option is to create a page by going to your blog control panel and add a custom page like the one I created here: http://www.penandpapergames.com/forums/blog.php?cp=1.
