At that price I might pick them up even if I never play 4e again.

That looks pretty cool, and for $2.00 why wouldn't you get it. Skip a soda + some pocket change, you're good.
It's as if there are people who play RPGs that don't have computers or something. Seriously, people need to upgrade to 1994 already. - - -TheRedRobedWizard

The cover art alone is worth the $2.00 =)

Thanks for the tip- I'm definitely subscribing, even if I'm going to be using things as a DM that I'd never allow the players to get...

Ooh! Shiny! I typically don't get much from the magazines that I actually use, but the cost of entry is too hard to not say "Yes!!!" to. I'm in.

Huh? The printed version is less than the PDF? That seems a bit odd to me.

    First issues are a *****.

The low prices makes more store owners think people will pay to try it, so they will order more than they would for normal first issues. If it sells well, the stores will stock more on a regular basis and the price will go up. It's a bit of a loss leader, but the PDF more than makes up for it.

What's more weird is that you're paying more than twice as much for the first issue if you subscribe, vs. buying it in the store. One year (4 issues) is $20 incl. shipping, so that first issue becomes $5...

I guess we just have to get our local game stores to order it.

We all see how this is a good problem right? They are making the first issue very affordable -- so it helps even those with tighter budgets these days. They are making the first issue more desired in print form -- which drives us to our Friendly Local Gaming Stores and helps drive local sales for the store owners who likely need the business.

...and... they are making a first issue where there was not one before.

    Seems like win/win/win to me.

A print RPG magazine by Goodman Games?

I'm so there. I'll definitely be picking up the first issue and will probably subscribe.

Between this, Wolfgang Baur's excellent Kobold Quarterly, and Paizo's Pathfinder -- I'm missing my Dragon and Dungeon fix much less.
