I also like the barbed rope...
a minimum weight, for a minimum time, and the hemp stretches/breaks away ....and the rope's inner core is revealed... barbed wire... hold on , get hurt, let go, get really hurt.. lol

interesting variant has needles woven into the rope, so long as the rope is hung "points down" so to speak, no issues... but should you ever tie the rope off using the other end and put weight on it, the needles are tied such that when weight is applied in the right direction they protrude.... works with thorns and small blades too. make a few of them brilliant energy weapons... maybe some poison....

yet another variant has a small container of alchemist's fire attached or woven in. pull hard enough, or depend enough weight, and the container opens exposing the rope to the substance within....

Climb the what ever and leave a rope behind for the pursuers. Mean, creative, but mean.

I would prefer something that acted a little slower. So the person climbing my rope got higher before it gave way.

I don't either.

Detonation cord as a rope. Great if you have several people following you. Let the first one up, blow the cord for the second, and leave the rest at the bottom. You can then deal with one person and have dealt with another. You split them up and chew them up.

Just so you know, the level ups are point distributions are done on a schedule -- every 15 minutes I think? So, unless you are exceedingly lucky, you won't see it instantly
