My First 4e Character

With all of my recent regurgitations about my former Barbarian/Wizard character, Cev, I've decided that I would post the character's stats as they came together in my attempt to recreate him at 1st level in 4e. Once I have had a chance to go home and dig out my old 3e character sheet for Cev, I will also post his (approximated) 1st level write up as he existed in that edition. This is merely for comparative purposes (and because the character is just so darn cool ).

i never liked the "literacy/illiteracy" rule in 3x. i made it a backround function, not a class thing. for example, i can't see any logical reason, with the backround you stated for Cev, why he'd be illiterate, o rwhy he'd have to spend valuable skill points to be literate...

In one of my 4e groups, someone played a Dwarven Ranger, with an emphasis on Strength, Constitution and two-weapon style. I think that actually came pretty close to a barbarian in how he played out... he would charge forward and do a lot of damage, but was pretty easy to hit (sound familiar)? His HP made him a viable force though, and his Dwarven Resiliance made his second wind more effective.

He chose abilities that made him more mobile in combat, helping him quickly get advantage against the target he currently was trying to take down.

Yeah, I agree. I try to be "fair" in terms of applying the rules for my character though and didn't want to ask the DM to waive the "literacy" rule for any kind of special treatment, so I just bought it off and went on my way. It's a minor quibble at best.

Okay I know this is Webhead's post but seeing as he's my friend I thought I'd post a new character I'll be making for this Saturday's game. I know they aren't out with and there's not much to go on but RPGA put up a preview with the Swordmage and I wasn't going to let that sucker get out of my reach. So here he is *drum roll*

*Swordmage Aegis: Aegis of Assault. As a minor action I can mark a target. If this target decides not to attack me and attack someone else I can teleport immediately to that target up to 10 squares away and make a basic attack against that target
*Swordmage Warding: +3 bonus to AC defense when using longsword in one hand while other hand is free.
