Asks Wizards - How do you submit a question??

Hi. I would like to submit a rules question to the "ask wizards" forum.

    Where do I do that?
    *********************
Here is the question I wish to submit.

    Question.

Black Pudding and splitting in two

    The Monster Manual says
    Quote:
    Split (Ex)

Slashing and piercing weapons deal no damage to a black pudding.
Instead the creature splits into two identical puddings, each with half
of the original’s current hit points (round down). A pudding with 10
hit points or less cannot be further split and dies if reduced to 0 hit
    points.
    My question is:
Do the two new Black Puddings have the same size, hit dice,
bonuses to hit ect. or does a 20 hd black pudding become two 10 hd
black puddings half the size of the original.

Or will you eventually have, say, 20 Gargantuan black puddings each
with a 20 foot reach hitting at +19 for 3d6+12 damage and 3d6 acid
    damage?

The description talks about Hit Points not Hit dice.

    thank you for your time.

As with most things I would be tempted to rule with the common sense idea of half size and HD. But to make things interesting, I would have to go w/ keeping size and HD. Gotta Kill 'Em All! (PCs that is)

We pretty much went through every argument on both sides.

    Looking for an official ruling.

In the DDOnline game, they split into ever smaller oozes. And they pretty much track the 3.5 rules.

The Ask Wizards column that is posted here on this forum is brought in by a feed from Wizards of the Coast. Here is some information about how to submit a question to them: http://wizards.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/...p?p_faqid=1303

    nutz

Well, for the record, a person at wizards responded saying that the split Black Puddings would have 1/2 the original but retain all the Attack modifiers as the parent Black Pudding.

I read that to mean that you have Black Pudding Prime X1

    X1 > x2 x2

    x2 x3 x3
x2 x3 x4 x4 at x4 black pudding has approx 15 hp and can depending on intrep of rule split one more time to 10 hp

    x2 x3 x4 x5 x5 at x5 the pudding has 7hp and can no longer split

So from a CR 7 monster you could be facing 20 20DH monsters each doing

    10d10+60 (115 hp)
    20 ft. (4 squares), climb 20 ft.
    AC 3 (–2 size, –5 Dex), touch 3, flat-footed 3
    To HIT / GRAPPLE +7/+18
ATTACK Slam +8 melee (2d6+4 plus 2d6 acid)
FULL ATTACK Slam +8 melee (2d6+4 plus 2d6 acid)
    SIZE REACH 15 ft./10 ft.
Acid, constrict 2d6+4 plus 2d6 acid, improved grab
Blindsight 60 ft., split, ooze traits

    Fort +9, Ref –2, Will –2

    Str 17, Dex 1, Con 22, Int —, Wis 1, Cha 1

Correct me if I'm Wrong but does CR7 mean that a monster is supposed to be a challenge for a team of four 7th level characters?

Remember not all of the damage will cause it to split. Unless your group has an odd fetish for swords.

Hey, don't go all 'conspiracy theory' on us here! Some of us have Traveled enough of the world to have seen a thing or two. There's nothing wrong with having big, smashy things!!
