I've become curious about this and I wonder if anyone would like to share their experiences with HARP.

BRP is a good system, but it has in the past had problems when you have a skill over 100% on one side or the other. But personally I cant wait for an all in one book for BRP

hehe...funny that you bring this up. I recently downloaded HARP Lite and got interested in Rolemaster again. I played MERP and RM2 back in the 80's.

I own the three RM2 books, MERP, and Rolemaster Standard System: The Basics.

Since RMSS, they came out with Rolemaster Fantasy Role Playing (RMFRP). This has the most detailed character creation of all the RM incarnations.

Recently, they produced Rolemaster Classic (RMC) which is basicly RM2 redone and cleaned up.

The have produced Rolemaster Express (RMX) which is a slimed-down version of RMC.

HARP is more streamlined and closer to D&D than any of the other RM products.

I asked the question over on RPGnet about if I should go with HARP or RMX:
    http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?t=372998

During the month of Jan. ICE online is having a sale of RMX. The softbound copy is only $8.50 USD, and the PDF is only $5.00 USD. I ordered the softcopy of RMX and still am waiting for the USPS to deliver it (hopefully, any day now). They're cool over at ICE online: because I spent like $11 on the softcopy of RMX, they gave me a $10 gift certificate. The PDF of RMFRP was only $17.50, so I downloaded that for only $7.50.

Here is the link to RMX at ICE online store:

Also asked the question on the ICE forums about the order in which RM products were produced because it can get messy. I got an excellent response from one of the ICE system editors (scoll to last couple of posts):

I just received my copy of Rolemaster: Express in the mail today

It really is cool. It's geared towards someone who has no familiarity with the RM systems.

There are 4 Professions: Fighter, Thief, Animist, and Magician.

There are 4 races: humans, dwarves, wood elves, and halflings.

    There are 28 core skills.

It has the basics of RM combat and magic system simplified.

This is perfect for someone to get the basics of the RM system.

Now, only if they did this 20 years ago, LOL!

If you want a basic introduction to RM or just a simple fantasy game system, then this is a good purchase for $10 softbound or $5 PDF.
