Check out this new article Wizards of the Coast posted recently:

    Ask Wizards: 01/21/2008

What is being done to move D&D away from its undesirable stereotypes and create a new image?

Some of these questions are just jokes. I think some of them would be great if a more politically correct answer was prepared before hand but with many of these it seems like they just kick in the door to their offices, shout out a question, and start rolling tape. What as with that writer's guild strike question not to long ago. I don't know who to dislike more, the people asking some of the more useless questions or the people who organize these unprepared question sessions.

No I'm not a hate machine. I just wish many of their responses were more informative

Sage advice, I think not. They are just using this as a forum for the long arm of the corporate propaganda machine. The responses are probably scripted to look like unrehearsed conversation with an 'average person' feel while not irritating known sore spots.
Most men lead lives of quiet desperation.

If those guys are acting then they're real actors. It takes real talent to emulate that level of "unprepared". Not to mention that Sara Girard seems extremely socially awkward. If somebody is writing that script they either need to be given a raise or get fired. The whole "ask wizards" program needs to be scrapped or put under new management. Even after having said this I'm sure I'll quickly run to watch the next ones that are posted. Is there no end to my D&D enduced shame? Have I not yet learned humility WOTC?

I think the problem is that the "Ask Wizards" was really supposed to be for answering rules questions for D&D, but they don't want to bother with any 3.5e questions they are getting now. Instead, they seem bent on using it as an avenue for advertising 4th edition now. So, to keep it at the forefront of your mind, they are stretching and reaching to find topics to bring up even when there's no 4e news.

I think that Triumph the Dog would have a few words to say:

Stereotypes are societal poison which achieve nothing more than planting the seeds of fear and ignorance within the minds of the masses.

And that is the point of them. So the big man can point and say, "fear that".

Really? I thought the big man created news broadcasting for that purpose

You have to be able to spread the ignorance like creamy peanut butter.

I see very little news in so called news broadcasting. When is the last time Channel X "I witless" news reported how your representatives in Washington were voting? Or to the point what city hall was up to? It's all scandal and Poptart of the week.
