One has to have a dragon. It keeps nosy people down. Hooknose is very good about that.

I love it! They've pulled another GW.... Shameless plugs for D&D and the new Dragonlance movie. Ha!

If anyone is interested, here is a link to the DVD on Amazon: Dragonlance - Dragons Of The Autumn Twilight. I hadn't heard about this movie yet. I guess it hasn't gotten a lot of press, or I simply live in a cave. One of the two. I'll definitely be ordering up a copy though.

I am curious as to if the DVD will be as interesting as the book was. I really enjoyed reading the book. I actually have all three books from the trilogy. I have read on another forum that the animation is not all that great. Most of the people seem to think that due to having a limited budget to make it with, that it has gotten short changed.

I enjoyed the books as well, but it has been a very, very long time since I read them. So, I'm looking forward to experiencing the story again. Lucy Lawless ... she was Xena, was she not?

    Yeah she was.

I just watched the movie last night and I think it is much better than the D&D movies but it still wasn't all that great. I haven't read the Chronicles trilogy in many years as well but the movie was pretty long and hit all the plot points.

I'm looking forward to the next two movies.

Okay, I got to be real honest here. Saying it was better than the D&D movies is saying very, very little. Rocky Horror Picture Show without the audience participation is still better D&D movies. Heck, Speed 2 whips it.

Anybody here a fan of the D&D movies? The motion pictures that is. I almost rented Fire & Ice the other night which I think is an animated D&D movie. I forget where I read Fire & Ice was D&D related. It was just the other day too

Is this the Fire and Ice you're talking about?

I don't think it's D&D, but the cover art looks like Frazetta.

I thought the D&D theatrical movie was horrid, however, these chaps on youtube did a great job:

I was a fan of the D&D motion picture and a very big fan of the sequal. The dragon in it was top notch. That isn't the Fire and Ice I'm talking about. I'm talking about this one: Dragons: Fire and Ice

Says those are inspired by the megablock toys. I love the dragons listed as the actors. Wonder if they were demanding....

Here's a trailer for the Dragonlance flic:

I just rented that tonight from RedBox. I'll watch it tomorrow and let you know if I liked it (without spilling any of the goodness it potentially holds). I haven't had the pleasure of reading the original novel though so I won't have anything to compare it against.

Angry Watch Dragonlance At Your Own Risk: Disatisfaction Guaranteed

Alright I tried to watch it last night. About fifteen minutes into it I turned it off. It was that bad. It seems like they spent most of their budget on some computer animation, which is hardly noticeable, and totally bailed on having quality standard cartoon animation. The animation was bad. Low budget saturday morning cartoons on a "hole in the wall" TV station are easier to watch. The voice acting was pretty horrible. It really felt like the voice actors were reading directly from a script. The music was cutting edge probably in the early sixties.

Anybody who is a fan of the novel will either love this because it is Dragonlance or will hate it for the atrocity that was committed by creating and releasing such a poor quality product. Unless your a truly die hard fan I recommend you save yourself the sorrow and money and just pass this one up.

Ouch! That's gotta hurt. Sorry to all you Lance fans. Maybe WOTC should appreciate their own dragons by not abusing the heck outta of 'em.
