So, how is everyone liking the Player Registry so far? I see there are some LFGs and LFPs out there. Has this helped anyone make some contacts yet?

I think it's a worthwhile tool. It would be especially helpful to compile a list of other sites that assist gamers with finding other gamers and sticky that list in General.

AccessDenied.net exists solely to help gamers find one another. ENWorld and RPG.net are both huge and have forums specifically for finding other gamers. I know there are at least a dozen other sites out there without even considering publisher forums.

Thanks, C.W. Actually, the frustrating process of searching through forum postings for other gamers was one of the reasons I decided to create this registry. There were always a ton of posts on Wizards.com for D&D groups, but searching through them was painful in the extreme. Not to mention that posters often don't follow the forum templates, which makes finding them even more difficult and when you do, there might not be enough information to go on to decide if it is a game you are interested in... However, it's not a bad idea of posting some other resources for folks, particularly for the most popular games.

    Thanks for the input

I certainly wont disagree with you that searching through those forums is painful Google search and board specific engines help, but it's still a pain. This is a much better solution, though giving folk as many tools as possible is the best bet.

I agree that a links section would be nice. Course, the more complex you make the site, the harder it will be for people to search! I'll post other ideas as I get them.

Just registered, very interested in seeing how this works out. I'm LFP so I will let you know if I get any results. I've used AccessDenied for years, and still get hits from it every few years, but I think their interface is way to clunky and cumbersome to be useful. Too many options, and the UI is a pain. That's before you even search. I'm glad it's there, but it's not the perfect tool.

I'm hoping this will be. Just remember that the UI of setting up and searching the user base here is as important as those users. It has to be easy and simple to be effective and meaningful!

Thanks for stepping up to the plate and taking a shot!

Thanks, Grimwell. Definitely let me know if I start to go overboard with too many features. I do have an idea that I will be working on soon that will make it ever easier to use.

I think the idea is fantastic and I've been doing something similar, but only for my nearby area where I live. The biggest problem I've found with doing something like this is that you run into groups that only want to use their forum or site or club or whatever for networking with gamers and refuse to use anyone else's.

I'm planning on moving forward with trying to network the forums together in my area in the hopes that the gamers will still be able to use their own forums, but will also be able to connect with each other as well.
