Sad but true. Side burns just don't invoke fear the way they used to

According to H. Beam Piper, English is the result of Norman men-at-arms trying to get dates with Saxon barmaids.

Mr. Piper was a wise man indeed. That has to be the sexiest grammar/language quote I've ever seen in my entire life

Rebelling was too much work. I worked the system instead.

To love a niche is to love disease. To settle and look no further is to admit defeat before your peers. To ignore the voices of truth and justice is to be human. To be human is to be diseased within a niche. The circle of life is ravenously efficient.

What was the point of all that? I haven't a clue.

I think it loosely hit on the differences between one generation to the next.

"What profit hath a man of all his labour which he taketh under the sun? One generation passeth away, and another generation cometh: but the earth abideth for ever. The sun also ariseth, and the sun goeth down, and hasteth to his place where he arose. The wind goeth toward the south, and turneth about unto the north; it whirleth about continually, and the wind returneth again according to his circuits. All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again. All things are full of labour; man cannot utter it: the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing. The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun." -- Ecclesiastes 1:1-9 KJV.

Yup, it's been going on for a while here.

"Action and reaction, ebb and flow, trial and error, change - this is the rhythm of living. Out of our over-confidence, fear; out of our fear, clearer vision, fresh hope. And out of hope, progress." -- Bruce Barton
