As the title asks, who's going?

I, unfortunately have to work. Stupid work!

I live far away, and it costs too much.

I thought about it, but by the time the thought crossed my mind, it was too late to plan for. And trust me, I'd love to be going since my mother-in-law is going to be in town and staying with us for two weeks during that time frame.

I'm going, and my company is throwing a party at a bar. You are all welcome to come.

I hope to go next year, because I really didn't plan on going this year, but I'll probably take my wife too. She isn't really a gamer, but I enjoy her company, so it won't be a bad thing to take her. I might even be able to get her to play some as well, but I'm not gonna hold my breath.

My plan, which I'll start in August is to put away about $100 every week or two in a GenCon fund. That way, I'll have plenty of cash available for next year.

    Alas no, given geographic constraints.

But PAX! Oohhhh.... I can't wait for PAX!

I used to live in Columbus, OH and attend Origins - which was always fun. I never quite knew what to do with myself once I go there though..

I think you've got the same kind of distance problem that I have Warp, except in the opposite direction!

Looks to be the case! I really just need to get to work on figuring out teleportation!

Ouch... I'm not going either, I had never even heard of gencon till I browsed around the sister of hack site to see them talking about it. Even if it was in my power I doubt I'd go, none of my friends are gamers and I hate going to social gatherings alone.

Just make sure that your transmission chamber is empty of any extra insects or whatever prior to the teleportation process and you'll be fine!

You should check out a few local gamer conventions to see if you like it.

Game cons are all about getting to play. I prefer to try new games that I wouldn't normally get to play, but you can also sit in on "living" style games that happen year after year with a continuing storyline.

This past weekend at Ottercon in Lynchburg, for example, I played three sessions of a supers game that has been on-going for many years. Plus, I also played a session of Serenity.

On the other hand, neither of my games, Conspiracy X or Crimson Twilight happened at all. I suspect if I'd labeled them "Ravenloft" or "Greyhawk" or something, I'd have had people lined up going out the door.

As noted before, my company is throwing a party during Gen Con. Here are the relevant details that can be found at this web link:

As part of the festivities for Gen Con in Indianapolis, Sony Online Entertainment will be hosting a Meet and Greet for those of you in the area. Join us at Jillian's on August 17th from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Food and drinks will be provided, along with entertainment and fun.

Address: 141 S. Meridian St., Indianapolis, IN 46225
    Phone: 317-822-9300
    E-mail: ecindianapolis@jilliansbilliards.com
    Web Site: Jillian's
Distance from Monument Circle: 0.27 miles

Even if you don't play online games, if you are going to be at Gen Con I demand that you stop over and say "Howdy" or whatever passes for a greeting in your locale.

You picked a good day to hit it if this is your first time and you only get one day. Everyone still has energy on Thursday!

That's why I thought it'd be the best day. Plus I can (hopefully) avoid some of the crazy weekend traffic in Indy.
