I live far away, and it costs too much.
As the title asks, who's going?
I, unfortunately have to work. Stupid work!
I live far away, and it costs too much.
I thought about it, but by the time the thought crossed my mind, it was too late to plan for. And trust me, I'd love to be going since my mother-in-law is going to be in town and staying with us for two weeks during that time frame.
I'm going, and my company is throwing a party at a bar. You are all welcome to come.

I hope to go next year, because I really didn't plan on going this year, but I'll probably take my wife too. She isn't really a gamer, but I enjoy her company, so it won't be a bad thing to take her. I might even be able to get her to play some as well, but I'm not gonna hold my breath.![]()
My plan, which I'll start in August is to put away about $100 every week or two in a GenCon fund. That way, I'll have plenty of cash available for next year.
Alas no, given geographic constraints.
But PAX! Oohhhh.... I can't wait for PAX!
I used to live in Columbus, OH and attend Origins - which was always fun. I never quite knew what to do with myself once I go there though..

You should check out a few local gamer conventions to see if you like it.
Game cons are all about getting to play. I prefer to try new games that I wouldn't normally get to play, but you can also sit in on "living" style games that happen year after year with a continuing storyline.
This past weekend at Ottercon in Lynchburg, for example, I played three sessions of a supers game that has been on-going for many years. Plus, I also played a session of Serenity.
On the other hand, neither of my games, Conspiracy X or Crimson Twilight happened at all. I suspect if I'd labeled them "Ravenloft" or "Greyhawk" or something, I'd have had people lined up going out the door.
As noted before, my company is throwing a party during Gen Con. Here are the relevant details that can be found at this web link:

You picked a good day to hit it if this is your first time and you only get one day. Everyone still has energy on Thursday!![]()

That's why I thought it'd be the best day. Plus I can (hopefully) avoid some of the crazy weekend traffic in Indy.
