Well the only one I have been able to play lately is D&D 4E, so it'll get my vote for favorite. Not that I have anything against it, I do think its a great game.

Savage Worlds, Call of Cthulhu, Feng Shui, Wushu, Chill, WFRP2 - still looking for the "perfect game" and mechanic.

    Btw, OP looks like spam.

WFRP2E with some homebrew rules is pretty close, IMO.

D&D 3.5 is still my favorite. I also like to play d20 future/modern (with a healthy dose of Star Wars, Gamma world, DragonStar, and some other settings material mixed in).

Currently anything that uses Ubiquity (Hollow Earth, Desolation, All for One) though I have yet to play the Dresden Files. It reads beautifully but until I play it I cant make it king of the mountain
    Playing: Pathfinder

I've looked for over 35 years haven't found it yet. I don't think the perfect system exist, and I don't think it ever will.

That said there are a lot of pretty good systems.

Two systems are tied as my favorites:

    D&D 1E (with house rules)
    TW 2000

Finding "the" perfect system quickly leads to a mismatch on several levels. It is a very subjective choice when balancing detailed simulation of important details against over simplification of less important details. This balance will never be exactly right, even from one game session to another.

Rules attempt to model important details and activities in a consistent, predictable way. The set of rules can be more or less adaptable through adjudication, but are normally fixed for the sake of consistency. However, RPGs rely on dynamic group relationships and creative solutions to problems. Rules that are well focused provide a common foundation for storytelling by a group. In the best case possible, decision making (plot) is more memorable than die rolls (mechanics).

Of all time? I would pick the same answer as Grimlock.

My favorite system is still 0ed D&D. Yes, it is clunky, difficult, and quirky, Why? It was the first, it got the whole ball of wax rolling.
