    Freedom Star

“Why risk the lives of many men, when one man will do?” asked Freedom Star. Colonel Greenfield was ready to send-in his commandos and indeed his men were eager to do their part.

“These boys are freedom fighters too. This is their job.” replied Greenfield.

“Colonel, all I’m saying is let me go in first. If the hostage is still alive I have a better chance to save him. There will be plenty for Delta Bravo to handle. Those terrorists will be scrambling like roaches when I cut loose. I’ll charge deep and try to get to the heart of the operation, after all, we still don’t know who is commanding this cell.”

Greenfield replied with a gravelly tone, “Well... Now you’ve got a good point.” He paused and began modifying the plan of attack. He nodded with a satisfied grunt. “Alright. the Eagle squad will hold down the West perimeter, while you start from anywhere on the south wall....”

Twenty minutes later, Freedom Star was in position. He got the green light from Colonel Greenfield, wheeled around, and kicked-in the double doors.

Freedom Star is from The Freedom Ring sourcebook.

At the end of this one, Crossbones had 1d remaining in all four resistances! Freedom Star had about 7d of resistance remaining. The disadvantage for Crossbones was that he is offense-oriented, so his better abilities didn't help him in defense. However, when it came to going toe-to-toe, Crossbones was more than a match. Interesting stuff! This combat had a totally different feel from the high-powered Thor-Megalon battle and appropriately so! The dice were friendlier to Freedom Star also. He had some huge 4d Energy rolls!

Freedom Star's Tough Defense boost was huge. It makes me wonder if there should be "Deadly Attack" boost to match it. Yes, I realize Armor Piercing partially compensates, but that only applies to Armor as a defense.

    Hi Jukeboxer!

I don't know if you know this, but I'm the author of The Freedom Ring and Dusltand is the artist. Fredom Star is probably the character I would play if I got to play in my own campaign. It was a distinct thrill for me to read the action-packed fight between him and Crossbones. Thanks for posting it, and thanks for another great match-up! I LOVE how creative you are in terms of describing the action!

    Keep these coming!

    All the best,

Of course I knew that! Thank you for a great supplement. The characters and backstories are fun, the optional rules are so good that I think they should be considered for the upcoming 2nd edition, and Russell's art really puts it over the top. I was hoping you would appreciate seeing your creation in action. Thanks for the comments and encouragement! I'm having fun with these vignettes. I hope to do more as time allows.
