Just a little history. I'm running a "gray" force game where one of my players is playing a sith.
This campaign has been going on for close to a year and a half. This player is your typical force wizard build. Force powers, lots of them that do a lot of damage. My build is a light saber specialist, light side. I just ran the first part (of 3) of my finale and used sever force on him for the first time. He is also going to take over after this and now says everyone in his game will use cortosis on every bad guy to counter my saber build guy. I don’t really care because my saber guy also uses a stun baton and has his own force powers. He won’t be out of the combat just a little less effective.
So I guess the question is which would be rarer?
Cortosis showing up often or an opponent with sever force?
I want to know everyone's opinion per era.

Cortosis appears to be a pretty rare material, almost forgotten - dare I say, Jedi propoganda (?), during the period of time from Darth Bane's reinvention of the Sith to Legacy, maybe even earlier. During Knights of the Old Republic, it seems to be established as being if not common, definately a material much more prevalent.

Cortosis is for sure more rare than a Force User with Sever Force.
However, the real issue is the player vs. player stuff that is going on. You nerfed his character and now he is going to nerf yours seemingly out of spite. This could lead down the path that breaks up friendships.

The Cortosis weave and sith alchemy to create dark armor.
How long does it turn off a light saber, and is it actual cortosis or does it simulate cortosis.
Doesn't the wearer also need the feats for wearing armor to not take the armor penalties associated with dark armor?
