Interesting. It is closer in concept to my "simples". Cheap magic of limited duration. Personally I would cut the cost even further. As 12,000 gp is well out of the range of the kind of person that would be the target audience of such an item, the common villager or farmer who isn't going to see that kind of money in their life.

It is a balancing act to keep some magic rare and expensive while other kinds are common and cheap.

Cutting the set of bowls down to one of a particular use would be another option. Say the forest close to a small town is an area known for a werewolf's lair, the inhabitents may wish for something to ward off that creature. A comment on the article mentioned using Protection From Evil as the spell cast upon a bowl, which could work perfectly for a small town's local church, as they would likely only have one or two clerical types available to protect the area. Still, an interesting idea and item.
