    24 campaign

I'm trying to find a suitable system for a campaign set in the 24 universe, and I'd like its dice system to have a probability curve, thus ruling out d20 Modern. I love the roll-and-keep system from the L5R RPG, but that game is very much built around its setting which doesn't work for 24.

Does anyone know of a way to take the dice from one system and implant them in another; for example, taking everything mundane from d20 Modern and simply replacing the "d20" part with "roll-and-keep?"

you could replace the d20 with 3d6. Search the forums, there was a nice discussion on here about bell curves and such.

But if you want a true 1-20 spread, 2d8+1d6-2 will give you that and a decent "curve"

Hey, thanks for the swift response!

Hmm. I searched around but couldn't locate the thread you mentioned. Any chance you remember what it was called, or who started the thread?

Strange, I searched for "3d6" too but didn't get any results. Thank you for the link!

Anyway, I'm really liking people's arguments in favor of the 3d6 system over d20. I think what I'm going to do is use the 3d6, but add an extra die. This is one way to account for main characters ("heroes" in d20 gaming terminology) in 24 often having absurd levels of success and luck, and also because 4x6=24, and I love me some symmetry in my numbers.
