The Sor/Wiz spell Genesis, Overpowered?

With the ability to create and expand your own plane made of whatever you so desire couldn't you just make it made of Platinum or Gold and then mine that thing like crazy? Or better yet just summon constructs to mine it? I get that any G/DM who saw this coming would put an end to it, but in essence this provides a player with an infinite (or almost so) source of money.

As a DM, i would interpret this as my "you can't create a demi-plane of pure gold" caveat. Also since it is made up of ethereal matter, any material removed from it would probably evaporate quickly.
