All science fiction rpg fans are welcome to participate. Just one rule: be sure to name the specific science fiction RPG when sharing TV shows and movies.

My partial list of movies, all worth seeing, BTW:

    Wing Commander, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0131646/
    Firefly, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0303461/
    Lost in Space, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120738/
    Event Horizon, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0119081/
    Moon, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1182345/
    Pandorum, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1188729/
    The Black Hole, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0078869/
    Dark Star, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0069945/
    Supernova, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0134983/
    Outland, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082869/
    Moon 44, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097910/
    Pitch Black/Riddick, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0134847/
    Saturn 3, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0079285/
    Starship Troopers Trilogy, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120201/
    Blade Runner, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083658/
    The Alien Franchise, http://wapedia.mobi/en/Alien_%28franchise%29

My gamer buddy just suggested BattleStar Galactica, He said certain episodes gave him some Traveller inspiration. I would have to agree.

Each of these flicks have aspects that are Traveller in some way or another, at least to me. I'll add more in later.

What share the rest of you?

I like the ships in The Fifth Element. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0119116/
Serenity goes good, but could be seen a an extention of Firefly. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0379786/
Very goofy, but Galaxy Quest has something for the lighter side. Mid tech people thrown into a high tech life is interesting. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0177789/
Red Planet. Prejump drive, but some tech of higher levels. Being an American film, the spend too much time on the stupid romance though. IMO anyway. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0199753/
Natural City I really like too. It has a nice setting of a low/mid tech level planet with slums with some high tech stuff tossed in. I just don't understand why people insist on comparing it to Blade Runner. If you have not seen this movie, put it in your head that it and Blade Runner are totally different films and you should not expect Blade Runner. You would probably enjoy it then. If you go into it thinking Blade Runner, you will probably not like it. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0378428/

I am currently watching Earth 2, a 21 episode TV series. Very Traveller like colony situation. You can stream it off Netflix currently.

I REALLY liked Pandorum, despite the reviews. Sci-Fi just doesn't get the love does it?!?!?!

Pandorum was good. Earth 2 was a series that could have been great.

That is a very unfortunate truth.

Two shows really remind me of Traveller: an old one and a new one. The old one is Blake's 7, with its stainless steel spaceships, submachinegun-wielding goons, and rogue psionicists. The new one is Bodacious Space Pirates, which, despite the name, is mostly about keeping up with paperwork and the drive maintenance schedule, has a galactic empire that controls the space between the stars but doesn't interfere with planetary governments, and relies on jump drive technology for interstellar travel.

Late to the party, but C.J. Cherryh's Chanur books (sorta). Information was limited to the speed of transportation, the Hani could be said to resemble the Aslan, there are numerous races (couple of methane breathers).
I would rather live in a world where my life is surrounded by mystery than live in a world so small that my mind could comprehend it.
