The superstition thread, anything from ghosts to luck to stupid rituals.

Personally, I totally believe that extraterrestrials have visited the Earth. Too much creepy evidence of UFO's has convinced me, plus when I saw a UFO when I was 5. Whether there is a big government cover up is a whole other can of worms.

    What share you?

I won't roll my dice before a game. I get enough bad rolls, why push it.

This isnt really a superstition, more of a pseudo-compulsive behavior, but I have a weird thing with symmetry and even numbers. For example, when adjusting the volume on the television i will only go in increments of two, if a book is on a table, I will adjust its position so that the edge of the book is parallel to the edge of the table, etc... now I dont HAVE to do these things, I dont freak out if things are asymmetrical or disorderly, but I am certainly aware of it.

Yeah, I do that too. As for the UFO thing. This is a pet peeve of mine.

UFO stands for unidentified flying object - which means that any flying object that goes unidentified is a UFO! So do UFOs exist? There isn't any question about it. Of course they do! As for ships from outer space - only the ones Santa Claus rides around in.

Okay this one is kinda weird. I have to wear socks on my feet when i go to bed. It stems from when I thought the monsters under my bed would tickle my feet. Now it just feels wrong not to.

I have seen a UFO. It was a total freak out until it became a IFO. The Goodyear blimp at night, playing with the lights can do that.

Superstitions, I will not buy a rubber stamp. Every time I have bought an address stamp I have had to move.

If I buy a cd (rarely) I have to listen to every song in the playlist order on the cd before skipping around.

    Well let's see...

If I spill salt I shake some over my shoulder.

I pre-roll bad rolls from my dice during the week.

I set aside dice that have rolled a 1 or even two 1's for special use by placing them in a small padded pillbox that prevents rolling, and label them for the said die.

    I skip the 13th step.

...and i always thought we guys got in trouble for that.

Hate to admit it, but with all i've seen in the world (cloaked entities, ghosts, and UFO's, oh my.), i have never been bogged down with superstition. Lucky me.

I do have a friend, however, that fears clowns. If he sees one look at him, he believes bad luck will follow. I've never understood the clown thing, but it seems pretty prevalent. Anyone want to explain this to me, then be sure to list a superstition so as not to jack the thead.

Wait, wearing socks to bed isn't normal? Cuz I do that, too.
