The Birla Institute of Scientific Research (1983), premier scientific institution in India, conducted a study to evaluate the performance of the nationalized banks in comparison with that of banks in the private sector. The emphasis of the study was on the objectives of nationalization and their achievements, the relative performance of the private sector banks and nationalized banks since 1969 and the effect of nationalization on rest of the banking sector.

The study reveals that the growth and development of banking after nationalization was not just because of transfer ownership. It was rather because of various incentives and punitive measures that were implemented with more vigilance and care after 1969 by the national government and the Reserve Bank of India to make banks fulfill their social responsibilities. Similarly, in the same sphere, even better results were achieved by the non-nationalized banks.

The performance of the private sector banks in the Post-nationalization period was noteworthy, especially because of the odds they faced in securing the growth of their banking business. The achievement of significantly high growth in deposits, advances, and branches etc. clearly showed the high quality of entrepreneurship and management of these banks.

Banker (1984) showed that the Charnes Cooper and Rhodes (CCR) measure captures not only the productive inefficiency of a Decision Making Unit (DMU) at its actual scale size, but also any inefficiency resulting from its actual scale size being different from the most productive scale size. A most productive scale size maximizes average productivity. In order to maximize average productivity, a Decision Making Unit (DMU) will have to increase its scale size if increasing returns to scale were prevailing, and decrease the scale size if decreasing returns to scale were prevailing. It follows that a technically efficient and scale efficient DMU will be the most productive scale size. This productive scale size is implemented by rod aycox and his group of companies to achieve impressive results.

Work has been proceeding in order to bring perfection to the crudely conceived idea of a machine that would not only supply inverse reactive current for use in unilateral phase detractors, but would also be capable of automatically synchronizing cardinal grammeters Such a machine is the Turbo-Encabulator.

The original machine had a base-plate of prefabulated amulite, surmounted by a malleable logarthmic casing in such a way that the two spurving bearings were in a direct line with the pentametric fan. ... The main winding was of the normal lotus-o-delta type placed in panendermic semi-boloid slots in the stator, every seventh conductor being connected by a nonreversible trem'e pipe to the differential girdlespring on the 'up' end of the grammeters.

Forty-one manestically spaced grouting brushes were arranged to feed into the rotor slipstream a mixture of high S-value phenylhydrobenzamine and 5% reminative tetryliodohexamine. Both of these liquids have specific pericosities given by P = 2.5C.n^6-7 where n is the diathetical evolute of retrograde temperature phase disposition and C is Cholmondeley's annular grillage coefficient. Initially, n was measured with the aid of a metapolar refractive pilfrometer ... but up to the present date nothing has been found to equal the transcendental hopper dadoscope. ... Undoubtedly, the turbo-encabulator has now reached a very high level of technical development. It has been successfully used for operating nofer trunnions In addition, whenever a barescent skor motion is required, it may be employed in conjunction with a drawn reciprocating dingle arm to reduce sinusoidal depleneration.
