Check out this new article from the Daily Illuminator that Steve Jackson Games posted:
August 30, 2009: This Is the Way the World Ends
Josh Levin recently wrote an article for Slate Magazine in which he discusses various scenarios for the end of America, at least as we know it. One of the experts interviewed for the article was futurist Jamais Cascio, author of the Transhuman Space books Broken Dreams and Toxic Memes. Levin's article quotes Cascio and has a video interview with him as well.

Congratulations, Jamais!

Honestly. I disagree - not with the sweet comment but with what the "specialists" said.
Or maybe I missed some points but here are my ideas:
Natural Disasters:
1.California becomes seperated by a massive earthquake.
--> the film industry suffers major losses and some of Americas wealthiest people are gone forever.
--> the farmers of California lose most of their land as they went from farmland to beachfront property
2.Off the coast of Africa some of the continent shifts and a layer of earth drops rapidly leading to a massive tsunami which destroys the North America east coast
--> in order to repopulate U.S.A. immigrant standards are lowered making it into a 3rd world country
Manmade disasters:
1.Nuclear Meltdown of an America reactor kills 1/4 of the USA population with 2/4 sickened with radiation poisoning
2.Terrorist attacks on US soil devistate US production of GNP weaking the US market
Global shift of economics:
1.The price of oil continues to rise and the U.S.A. dollar plummets further
2.India and China become the new superpowers in the econmic community leaving the United States with a large debt load
