In the middle of his attack, the clear, bright squillo of Yrisz's elven cuts through the din and holds Noxias frozen for a moment in time. Memories of his younger days and his first accidents when learning about arcane fire flood into his mind... With his concentration broken, the sphere's first movements of deadly intent seem to sag anemicly to the ground.Quote:

Even though the sphere's movement is retarded, it is still deadly enough to those unfortunate to be in its proximity.
Konstansz gestures with her rod and a feverish, reddish light shines from strange angles over Roszroon's head. The warrior raises her shield just in time to ward off the streams of molten fire that pour down from that point a moment later.
Rogur's well-timed sling bullet lodges in her as she's dealing with the tiefling's curse. She staggers, gasps, and fails to completely parry a quick cut from Marc. Straightening, she draws a painful breath and calls out to her comrades.
"Where did you learn to shoot like that? So hopeless! Just forget about fighting and run for the boats." She, on the other hand, does not seem to have any intention of abandoning the fight. She slams her still-smoking shield into Zephyr's side, aims a quick kick at Marc's kneecap, and lands a bruising blow on Noxias's upper arm, all the while grinning lopsidedly.
Marc stumbles back for half a step, cursing as his knee buckles for a second and he is forced to regain his balance. He throws up an off-balanced strike to protect himself. Beads of sweat are starting to form on his brow as he fights in plate mail, and he spits some blood and he speaks.
"You can still surrender, you can't win this fight."
Regaining her composure Yrisz pauses to evenly surveys the battle field, measuring her allies many hurts and that of the woman flailing amongst them, a slight shadow of compassion crosses her face as she divines that the melee's closes on them.
"The man speaks truly Roszroon, surrender please," Yrisz says with a slight tremor betraying her still troubled disposition.
For one more second Yrisz pauses monitoring the field and then with a slight whimper of pain she explodes in soft light that heals her friends of their most grievous injuries.
"You are outnumbered. You cannot win and you will not win. Drop your weapon and concede defeat."

"You're so kind," Roszroon answers after swallowing and catching her breath, "but Roti's the one who does the surrendering for me, and he's not saying anything right now. Let's keep going."
She raises her head and meets Konstansz's eyes as the tiefling takes aim, "That's how it should be." She blocks the bolt with her shield, but the black energy simply courses around it and up her arm. She takes a step back, surrounded by a dark, sparking haze and then falls, her eyes sightless.
Noxias sheathes his long sword, and brushes some debris from the battle off his travelling pack. "Well... that was less flamboyant than I would have hoped. Next time Kon'stans, you should hit with something a bit brighter." Noxias turns to glare at Yrisz, "And you... how dare you make me lose my concentration! I would have had her before she was able to tear my clothing and my pack up!" He takes a deep calming breath, and walks over to the unconscious dwarf.
Noxias winks and waives his hand in front of his staff. A sound like a hundred hands clapping all at once seems to come from nowhere and everywhere, and a bright light shines from the end of this staff as he waives it in front of the creature's eyes. "Wakey, wakey!"
As Roszroon crumples to the floor Yrisz expression breaks from it's thin veneer of composure to into a frown a dismayed despair.
"We had control of the field, that was wasteful and unnecessary," she says in a low tone to nobody in particular.
Her words become inaudible as she briskly walks past the fallen Matchless Ganger Members following in Zephyr's wake as he presses the last conscious member of the matchless gang. She stops but a second to give Noxias an exasperated look in reply to his quip. "I am sorry about your equipment," she manages somewhat genuinely, though she quickly turns her attentions back to Zephyr's movements which she follows with a clinical interest.
"Such frailty beneath that bravado," mumbles Konstansz as she casts a somewhat surprised glance at Roszroon's fresh corpse.

As Zephyr strides into the reception room to engage the last combatant, he sees an incredible sight beyond the broken windows. The streets are completely flooded, and what's more, the level of the water is only a few feet below this floor. The fleeing members of the Matchless Gang are running away on long, thin punting boats. Three are just pushing away from the side of the tower, while a fourth is still floating alongside the windows.
The gang members are not the only ones boating down the streets. Here and there, Zephyr notices other citizens of Beilston out in a variety of small watercraft. To the south, however, Zephyr spies a fifth boat quite a few yards ahead of the others of identical design to the first four. Unlike the rest, this one has four occupants. Two are are standing at either end, punting the boat along. The remaining two are wearing hooded cloaks and seated in the middle.
Distracted by the sight, Zephyr misses his swing, and lets out a howl of fury as the remaining assailant hops down to the last boat.
Following Zephyr's awed look, Yrisz enters the room to peer out the first of the broken windows.
"My, you have to see this, the whole town is flooded and full of Matchless Gang members," she calls back to the others.
Seeing the fleeing Matchless Gang member reading the final boat for departure Yrisz tosses a ball of white flame his way hoping at least to slow him.
"Ow," is all Yrisz can say as the flame misses by so great a measure that it does not hamper the man's flight in the least.
Seeing Yrisz's weak attempt at making fire, Noxias scoffs. "I'll take care of this," he says while walking briskly toward the boat.

Due to the sheer variety of watercraft, it is not hard for Yrisz to spot two more punting boats of similar design to the ones of the Matchless Gang. One of the two looks like it's unrelated: the occupants are clearly a family with two children. The other one is quite a ways down the eastern channel, and like the southernmost boat, has a seated passenger, hooded and cloaked. The cloak is plain brown, thick, but otherwise inexpensive-looking. It looks the same to Yrisz as the other cloaks worn by the two on the southward-heading boat.
Meanwhile, the last combatant has managed to dodge the spells aimed his way and only take a glancing blow from Marc's blade. He hastily pushes off and begins to send his boat north.
"Ahg! Hey come back here!" Noxias shouts through the open window, frustrated that he wasn't able to catch up in time.
"Well, that leaves us high and dry. Great!" Noxias moves to the table and unslings his pack. He begins rummaging around in it's contents."Where are my Tenser's components?"
For her part, Yrisz blasts at the only unbroken window in the east side with a sphere of white flame. When that proves unsuccessful she quickly makes her way over to one of the open windows to peer out.
"Quickly, there's two people in brown hoods being escorted away on a boat, it might be Duvek and Iniusy...oh, there is another just waiting in a the water by himself, which is quite queer, and there are more MGs floating about," she says all breathless.
"Are we going to," at which point Yrisz realizes that she the only person moving against the fleeing Matchless Gang member.
"Oh, we're done then," is all she says pulling her head back into the window.
