- What are you looking for?:
- I like to try new things. So far the only roleplaying experience I have is in Dungeons and Dragons and I would very much like to break out of just D&D alone. Of course this doesn't mean I don't want to play anymore at all. I'm still a part of a very stable and what looks to be long-running D&D campaign. Tone-wise I tend to like it more on the lighter side, often in spite of the tone of the world itself. It seems that the darker the world is, the more it needs some amount of humor and the more willing I am to try and provide it in whatever way seems appropriate and in-character.
I prefer slightly more roleplaying to combat, about 60:40 is a good ratio. I enjoy action and combat as much as anyone, but I also believe that conflict should have more reason behind it than simple level grinding, and that the current objective should never take a back-seat to endless ass-kicking. Action is meant to advance the plot, not overtake it. This is one of the reasons that my current DM has decided to forgo XP and simply hand out levels where he feels appropriate. It frees us up to do whatever we feel appropriate to advance the plot rather than just constant combat.
I prefer jumping in on already well-established gaming groups that are looking for players. I try my best to never miss a session unless I have to, and I find that easier to do when the group has a few players that have been there for a long time as well. I quickly become frustrated with players that say they'll show up and
About Me
- Biography:
- I haven't been roleplaying for that long. Maybe 5 or 6 years at most. My first campaign was a Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 game set in the Forgotten Realms and played over MapTool. The campaign lasted a good long while and took us from second level up to 13th, before the group started drifting apart. A few ill-fated reunion sessions later, the campaign proved itself dead for good.
I'm currently playing once a week in a D&D 4e home-brew setting, taking the place of a player that recently dropped and so beginning play at 6th level rather than first. Since then my character has earned two more levels contributing to the group in a quest to liberate a world suddenly invaded and enslaved by terrible dragons, all the while searching for his missing loved ones.
