What are you looking for?:

I am an active fan of tabletop roleplaying with sadly limited experience due to small groups and low interest in my area. I enjoy sci-fi, fantasy, and mixes of both, including cyberpunk/steampunk settings. My preference tends toward games with good story and interesting plot, but with a good mix of the actual system - D&D, for instance, is about both being a character in the world and rolling dice, and I like both aspects! I'm not interested in in-depth RP groups or LARP for myself. For me, the characters are fun not only to think about in terms of "who are you," but also statting them out, building them, making them good at what they do by the game rules - without being a munchkin. A good story involves the characters being relatively important people, or at least, telling it from that perspective; a farm boy who grows up to save the world may be cliche, but still, you could always make farm life sound interesting!

About Me

Biography:

I am a 23 year old gamer who began playing in a small group with D&D 3E. Before this I was an avid video game fan and frequently enjoyed action and RPG titles such as Final Fantasy. Tabletop roleplaying was a natural extension for me, since I love both well-designed game systems and character development. Due to the natural inclination to d20 gaming in my hometown, I mostly stuck to D&D and other Wizards products like the seldom-run Star Wars or d20 Modern game. After attending college and joining an online group or two I became interested in trying out other systems such as White Wolf's World of Darkness, Shadowrun, and GURPS. Despite my love for action-oriented games, I tend to dislike going too far into the rules; knowing enough to make my combat turn go smoothly is sufficient, I don't need to know how to break every maneuver my character will ever attempt. A good mix of "down to earth" gameplay that is generally munchkin-free and a good story to keep me motivated for the next session is something I prefer in most games I play.
