I'm interested in both playing and running games, though not at the same time. As a player I think I'm in roleplaying and developing a character over the course of a campaign, you know, really having the chance to take a character pretty far in terms of levels and power. As for running games I'm really intrigued by the tactical aspects of 4E combat, particularly using miniatures (which I seem to have a passion for collecting) and dungeon tiles, so any games I run would likely be combat encounter intensive.
I originally played D&D and AD&D in the early/mid-80's, beginning when I was just a kid. I had all the books back then and was really into it, running various games and playing with several groups in my hometown. By the time I was a teenager I got into other things and only recently, last year or so, have I returned to D&D. I like 4E for the streamlined play mechanics and accessibility relative to 3.5 rules - a friend tried to get me playing with his group in a 3.5 game a couple of years ago but the density of the core rulebooks was just too intimidating for me to get anywhere with it. 4E just makes everything simpler (and, since I've been playing 4E for a while I've discovered many of those 3.5 rulebooks aren't as dense as I initially thought).
