What are you looking for?
I am looking for games as a Player and as a GM.

As a GM I look for players who like to role-play but also enjoy good combat scenes that aren't complicated and do not argue mechanics during combat a lot, thus dragging out the game to the point of boredom. For online games I like to run games with intrigue that involve more role-play and character interaction and development, with some exciting fast paced combat mixed in.

For regular tabletop games I am looking for personable, creative, energetic players who are interested in making a great story and developing their character, and not power gamers looking to smash everything in sight. I favor more role-playing than combat, usually 60%/40% or so when I run games, and I like to involve the players in the world and give them choices to take the party in the direction they want while enjoying an adaptive story. I like to see a long-term development of each character based on the choices they make as well as seeing them involved in a background-driven side story or a side story developed from NPC relationships they've made over the course of the campaign.

I do NOT want players who are going to argue with me at every turn, people wanting to min/max their characters and hunt down every monster in creation, or people who don't know how to get along with other human beings in a civilized manner.

Ages in our group range from 23-40, so we are looking for mature players over the age of 18.

DM Worldcraft: Obsidian Portal Wiki

by Doom Crow on Tuesday 07-28-2009 at 09:28 AM
Hi again and apologies for the long delay between blog entries. The stresses and tribulations of everday life couple with some medical issues have prevented me from being able to sit down and collect my thoughts in a manner which I deem is suitable enough to convey in the written word.

With that aside, I will continue my entry for today. With the news that Pen & Paper Games had partnered with Obsidian Portal, I decided to take a look at this site and see what it was all about.

DM Worldcraft: Planet Shaping

by Doom Crow on Tuesday 07-14-2009 at 01:08 AM
Hello again and welcome back. Last time I discussed what kind of campaign setting I wanted to create, touching briefly on the prevalence of magic in the world. Today I'm going to be talking about the actual world I want to create, shaping the planet and giving it the properties and appearance that will eventually house my campaign setting.

D&D and many other fantasy games stretch the imagination and what we can accept as fantasy, but the fact that science still impacts these

DM Worldcraft: Ideas take Form

by Doom Crow on Monday 07-06-2009 at 03:43 AM
Welcome back. I'll begin by catching everyone up to where I am on the project right now, starting from the inception of the project.

The best thing about D&D to me from a DM's perspective is the world in which you are telling your story. I have long been a huge fan of the Forgotten Realms campaign setting ever since the old AD&D box sets, and have ran many games in that world. It has so much lush detail, so many avenues to take your imagination that I couldn't get enough of

A DM's Worldcrafting Experience

by Doom Crow on Saturday 07-04-2009 at 10:53 PM
Greetings. This is the first entry in what will become an account of my experience in building upon the world I created late last year. My goal is to document my ideas, dilemmas, roadblocks and inspirations as I develop something I wish to someday see published. Whether that goal comes to fruition is not my main focus today, but rather the experience itself so that I may use this as a learning experience and a chance to exercise my creative powers.

As I said I created my world late
