- In the way of games, I prefer more fantasy-based role-playing games. The most ideal setting would probably be something like that out of Final Fantasy 6: A technological era beginning, but not with a truly futuristic feel to it.
Role-playing is fun, but too much talk and no action can put me in a rut. I tend to prefer campaigns that are as much about combat as they are about role-playing. There needs to be a fine balance between the two, however - too much of anything is a bad thing.
As for the feel of the campaign, I tend to have more fun in campaigns in which I can have fun - I'll expand on this. My characters are usually "fun," but in a way that certain percentages (depending on where they are at the time) of the population might consider to be anywhere from unusual to downright abnormal. Most of them tend to be spunky, and potentially brash in nature, though that might be because all of the games I've played thusfar have required that kind of character in order to, well, get things done.
My characters, more often than not, would be similarly compared to characters in comedies or cartoons that you would laugh at while watching the show, but likely wouldn't want to encounter in real life - because if you were to meet them in real life, you'd know there'd be nothing but trouble brewing on the horizon.
About Me
- Real Name:
- Julian
- Biography:
- I started playing Dungeons and Dragons when I was in 7th grade, I believe, right around the time my best friend (to this day) introduced me to a computer game called... The Ruins of Myth Drannor(?) in which you created a party of Dungeons and Dragons characters and embarked on a dangerous dungeon delve into an abandoned, haunted mausoleum (Aren't ALL mausoleums haunted in DnD?).
I mainly DMed for my younger brothers and sisters, who were kinda fond of the game, especially since I'd dress them to the nines (primarily because they enjoyed kicking butt rather than worrying about encountering challenges), but I got the opportunity to play in a couple of games with friends in the days in which THAC0 was the norm.
In High School, I was introduced to Alternity (which I didn't like... I just can't get into Science Fiction-based games) and the White Wolf World of Darkness, beginning with Mage: The Awakening. I became familiar with Changeling and Vampire shortly thereafter, but never was involved with or played Werewolf until later on in my life, after the New World of Darkness had been introduced.
Recently, I've been playing either 3.5 DnD, 4.0 DnD, or New WoD games, though the latter have as of late been few and far between. I'm in a couple of current gaming groups: one with a circle of friends, and one with a number of other paperandpengames.com-mers, which I was invited to a month or so back and have thusfar thoroughly enjoyed.
