Something tells me it's a problem. Phone pile. All the phones in the middle of the table. First person to reach for one before the game is called pays for the pizza.

Eastern culture is pretty blood soaked too. Actions have consequences. I have always played that way. If you want a low/no combat game you neeed to offer appropriate conflicts. 40 Orcs with swords are not the deal. You also need to offer your players a satsifying means for resolving...

I will address these questions and experiments using inline blue text, not to be confused with Blue Truth. In some of the answers I have provided, I allowed for certain assumptions to be made. I want to clarify this further and say that, on the balance, I am not willing to make assumptions...

tesral started a thread [Campaigns / Adventures] Twelve Worlds Setting in Campaign Resources
The Twelve Worlds Setting It kind of grabbed my brain, moved in, and set up shop. None of this existed two weeks ago, ships, logos, descriptions, none of it. In short an outline for a space fantasy game. Still plenty to do to make a real setting out of it.

Role playing is a game, a game is a conflict. Ergo you cannot write conflict out of role playing games. If you don't have it you are writing poetry. Stories required conflict too. Now that said conflict can be resolved various ways. Combat isn't always the best. Yes, you can design and play...

Tools are as useful as you make them. Too much reliance on a given tool can flavor things and not always well. I'm all in favor of anything that make the mechanics of the game run more smoothly and not in favor it if gets i n the way. If index cards speed things up for you, do it. If a spell...

The Ancient Greek aphorism "know thyself" Is I think one of the wisest ever. Once you have reached that you have a handle on everything. Congratulations on reaching the epiphany of knowing thy gaming self. Sadly it is the journey that no one can make for you. Now you can make progress...

I'm also a bit fuzzy, but for the sake of consistency, I think we need to take the order of the map updates...

My intention is to make the player characters more robust with respect to their attack and defense bonuses against equivalent-level opponents. This will free up character feats for their original purpose of allowing unique customizations. It should also allow the party to defeat enemies more...

It's a good thing it's not a history check but a Prestidigitation cantrip. Basically, Rogur lowers an amphora marked oil down. Noxias removes the crumbling seal and immediately detects extremely rancid-smelling seed oil. Pouring a little bit on the ground and setting the amphora a good few feet...

With about six hours to go in the players' posting period, I'd like to note that since Derim's objection to the eastern passage is very clear and specific, unless I get more information to the contrary, the party's going to start by going down the northern route. In case you're tempted to bring...

Pacifist ideals - and games - work okay until you run into that one butt-head that doesn't wanna be peaceful and WANTS to fight. It may be a TV show, but I keep thinking of Kung Fu - Cain really wanted to live a peaceful life, but kept running into bad guys that just insisted that they needed to...

Rogur has exhausted his knowledge but if any other character wants to have a go at identifying the second glyph, it can be done with a DC 15 History Check, or DC 10 for Yrisz. Also, I see Noxias is for and Derim is against entering the eastern passageway. Please settle on the rest of the...

The seal comes off and Rogur takes a sniff. The seal wasn't good enough, or the clay too porous. The vinegary tang of spoiled wine assails him, with decidedly unpleasant background scents of yeast and cooked cabbage.

Rogur will need to bring a sample down or Noxias will have to climb up to offer any arcane insights. Meanwhile, Rogur makes a History Check and rolls 11 modified to 14. Knowledge Check (History DC 15 normally, DC 10 due to Rogur's background as an Imareskan merchant ship's officer) Just before...

As the rest of you look around in the crevice, Rogur sets up his own grapple and rope on the north face, ascends to the other side of the room, and pokes about in the debris. As a GM i tend to alternate between RP and Combat heavy campaigns. I'm also extremely capable and willing to teach new systems to players. Only requirement I have for players is that you're available MOST of the time when we're going to meet.
About Me
Biography:
Well I'm in the Air Force stationed in Montgomery Alabama, and I've been playing RPGs and Wargames since I could roll dice. Oh jeez, name a system I've probably played it or at least read a bit about it. I started on D&D back in the day, then expanded to other d20 games, primarily Star Wars and then eventually really fell in love with RPGs when I discovered Spycraft. I started wargaming with Warhammer Fantasy years ago. I now have a WH40K Eldar army needing assembled, and the fifth edition book needing to be read :P I presently own every 4E D&D book, though I've fallen a tad behind on Star Wars Saga. In part because of my love of wargames and minis games, I like the direction D&D and Star Wars and Spycraft and whatnot are going, and because of my love of super nuanced rule heavy games like Aces & Eights, I tend to avoid rules-lite RPGs.

Fighter: "I can kill a guy in one turn."
Cleric: "I can kill a guy in half a turn."
Wizard: "I can kill a guy before my turn."
Bard: "I can get three idiots to kill guys for me."
