What are you looking for?

As a player, I much prefer roleplay to combat, though I do enjoy combat when it's called for in the story. I definitely don't want to play in a treasure/hack and slash/experience farming group; I'd much rather be in a group where people develop their characters, not their character sheets. Going out and dungeon crawling just because that's what you do isn't appealing either - I like a strong, consistent story that gives characters a reason to care about the outcome other than getting paid. This also includes 'kill the orcs because they're evil,' 'obey the king because he's blond and good,' and 'oh noes! Evil people who want to kill everything are afoot!' stories. Can we have a little nuance in our plots please?

Because I'm new to most DnD settings I don't have any particular favorites, other than I don't want to play 4th edition. Tried it, didn't like it, sticking with 3.5 thanks.

Biography

Like 90% of you, I've been gaming since I was a kid, playing PnP, tabletop wargames, computer games, and hitting people in costumes with sticks. I'm getting back into PnP because after becoming utterly annoyed with the terrible roleplaying online I remembered, oh yeah, there's an alternative. My past games have been once a week, but I'm open to two games a week if I just can't pick, though realistically what are the odds of finding two irresistible games in my area? That's what I thought.
