the conflict resolution mechanic? well, it is a tertiary mechanic in order to provide a method of resolving deadlocks and ties to the primary method, noetic combat. i have been recently contemplating making it a quaternary mechanic so as to provide a greater focus on the purposed intent of the...

Pacifist ideals - and games - work okay until you run into that one butt-head that doesn't wanna be peaceful and WANTS to fight. It may be a TV show, but I keep thinking of Kung Fu - Cain really wanted to live a peaceful life, but kept running into bad guys that just insisted that they needed to...

hmmm. please go take a look at my rules-light game thread over in the independent/small press sub-forum, if you haven't already - and even if you have, please provide more feedback. on one paw, i've found that while i like having a large range of options available for a character, that does not...

Brother, I definitely smell what you are stepping in. I've made the same journey as you, with the same results. For no good reason - other than I am feeling argumentative today - I offer one suggestion as to why this happened. Familiarity. No matter what kind of warts or scars there might be,...

I'm big on 3x5 index cards. As DM, I put all pertinent monster data on the cards for quick reference when playing, and I always put spells on cards, so I don't have to scramble with, "Was that a 100' range + 10'/level, or a 40' range + 20'/level??" While I'm not a Luddite, I'm still not...

Three items: 1. Holy necro-post, Batman!! Last activity was in 2011... almost 4 years ago! 2. Yeah, you are spot on with almost all of what you say. It is the GM's fault for all of this. 3. What is the definition of "sicko"?? THAT'S where you might get into trouble. I know folks that this...

  1. How did the alignment Lawful Good end up being the choice when reading the description? as per your response to my thread.
  2. Yes, time marches forward despite my objections. I am mostly back ... a dream to some, but a nightmare to others. Catch ya around.

Well Met,
I DM two groups in Green bay .
A few notes about our games:
1) We use the 3.5 Dungeons and Dragons rules to the best of our ability
2) Most WOTC products are acceptable for use. Some material from other gaming companies may be allowed on a case by case basis. Currently, psionics are not allowed.
3) Wed. and Sun. are two different groups with all different members. I tend to use the same adventures for each with slight adjustments to individualize and compensate for the differences. They can be quite different, but do sometimes share story-lines.
4) Dress up should be reserved for LARP and Halloween, so we don't dress up or go to extremes.
5) Sunday usually plays about 3:00pm to 9:00pm.
6) We play at players homes who are willing to accommodate.
7) I have been playing since 1979 when I was young. I started DMing seriously shortly after 2nd edition came out. I still like to play when I can. I have played every edition of D&D and many other games too numerous to mention. When DMing I allow most things from WOTC products and am a pretty easy going impartial refree type. While I have played many other games, I always end up back at D&D.
8) We play in an evolving home-brew world where creativity is encouraged. Its a relatively normal world where most things are possible. The best part is it is not overwritten like some settings and doesn't cost a thing.
9) Most of my players are more roll player than role player. From time to time there is some good role play
