I favor session awards myself. It is a natural point at which to wrap the evening. It gives the players time to conetmplate where to put said points before the next session.

Lightweight? I like medium weight myself. I'm enough of a war gamer to like a bit of crunch in my game. True 20 is way to light for my taste. On the other hand a simulationist combat system takes way too muich time and effort. What do I like? Yes systems. A system that doen't default to...

You are now talking system. Most game systems avoid one hit one kill because it goes through PCs too fast. It lacks that Heroic feel. Personally I would keep the damage similar. For myself I generally give bullet 2dX. From Colt .25 autos at 2d4 to the .45 ACP at 2d10. Pistols are graded...

I use it for all eras. And no not usually weapons. You are expected to have gotten weapons. It is for the flashlight, torches, tent spikes, food, coil of rope, and the other things people usually forget to list. Now you can have an assault rifle and a pack of ammo, but don't ask for a wound...

Naw, that's some river in Costa Rica! I am interested in joining your 4E, although I have been playing 3.5 for several years. I own the PHB and that is it, but would be willing to buy more rule books as the campaign developed. I will be leaving for home (Holland, MI) after this exam week. I don't know if you read any of my page but I am looking for experienced DM's and players. Let me know if you are still interested during or after summer. It is an hour and a half travel for me but I may be willing to make the trip once a week for a great D&D sesh!

Hey there. Got a message that you are looking for players. I like the idea of a home brew campaign. Right now I'm running a 4E using the published adventures by Wizard (first time DM, needed all the help i could get.) I'd like to be a PC again if you don't need a DM for the group. Also I don't mind playing a support class if you need one. (I know in 3.5 it can be almost impossible finding someone who wants to be the parties "Heal Wagon")

I've used the standard point buy system for my group with the addition of 2 extra points (all stats start at 10 instead of one being 8) and it has seemed to make everything a little more enjoyable without overpowering. A group of experienced players, however, may not be so crushed by the dice as newbies tend to be so it's really whatever you want.

Please contact me if you're still interested. I'm pretty mature if I need to be but I like when the party has a sense of humor. (Not every encounter calls for a walk down dreary lane after all)
