Malruhn replied to a thread [DM / Player Tools] New Race: Drokal (Pathfinder RPG) in Campaign Resources
I don't see any down-side to playing a Drokal. No penalty to Diplomacy due to tattoos in your face? This sounds like there would have to be a level adjustment of +1 to play one... Just a thought.

I'm with the others - if you want to start playing that game, you need to include armor damage absorption and such. At one time, armor had THREE armor classes... ac vs pierce, bludgeon, and slash. Chain mail is GREAT against slashes (probably +8 or more), but absolutely crap against bludgeon...

You win the internet for at least an hour, today. I've used "plead the First" for years"!! Hey, if I have the freedom of speech, I have the freedom to keep my mouth shut - and, besides, the Fifth just makes you SOUND guilty!!

So are you going to credit the Gauntlet video game for your "original concept"?? I can see a cease and desist order in your future.

Dude... you HAD to bring up Connections... I LOVED that show! And now for a shower on the parade: I am getting VERY close to finishing up my player's guide for my campaign world, and I decided to have a talk with a real-life published author about it (He's DMing a group I'm in). He asked...

    1. Three fav ideas: --The reluctant hero - which is VERY hard to do to make it seem "fresh." --A new twist to magic (Blake Charlton's "Spellwright" series did this VERY well), OR, sticking to RAW for a favorite RPG system (ooh, look, three magic missiles, that mage is fifth or sixth level!)...

My GMing style can be harsh at times but that is life. I don’t like to waste time looking up rules, if it isn’t too important I will just make something up. If you feel that the players are always right and things should always go their way then you are the not the right gamer for my group. I have my own children and don’t need to cater to players that whine when things don’t go their way.

TRUE roleplayers deal with the situation that unfolds and plays accordingly. I use a cause and effect style of GMing. From a players point of view it may appear as railroading, but that is impossible because I tend to make up my games on the spot based on character actions. My usual game preparation is to simply write down an encounter on a note card. If the players lead the story into a direction of a card then I run that encounter.

About Me
Biography:
I prefer more details on your characters actions. I don't like it when players simply state I roll my intimidation skill. Play your character, not the stats. As a GM I grant bonuses to rolls done in this fashion. I've been playing RPGs for 10+ years and running them almost as long due to no one wanting to be the GM. The main game that is played in my group is Star Wars Saga. I have run EVERY version of Star Wars, almost every version of D&D, Ars Magica, Marvel Super Heroes, and have played in many more. I also created my own Transformers system that I would like to test one of these days. As of now the group is rotating locations from Joliet, Bolingbrook, and Naperville as well as playing PC games and board games as well. We are a diverse group that could always use more players.

Control - You must learn control!

Some GM/DM/ST Advice:

The Monolog

There are times when you are running a game, and you set up the great encounter facing the big bad evil guy and the guy is about to spill the beans on his master plans. Cliché to the max but it happens. Ok there is always one smart ass player that will want to shoot him before he is done. As a rule of thumb just ask to not attack until after the monolog. This will solve a lot of issues.

I've come to the recent conclusion about my own styles lately.

I'm a dice chucker and this is why. If there were no stats there would be no dice and there wouldn't be a game. It would only be an interactive story. During yesterday's chat room game Dan/Sabby was facing an angry mob of 38. For the purist role player he played his character. He decided to retreat back into the store front and talk with the people. The clues that were presented to him (getting shot at 38 times and only
