My experience is that People say they want more RPing and that they aren't hack&slash players (or GM's) and then they are dull hack&slashers who don't even have the requisite tactical intellect to be interesting hack&slashers.
Well my style as GM is heavily on the side of getting to the action. I like action oriented games, but I would enjoy more RPing and I'm trying to emphasize the RPing aspect in my current game. What I want to emphasize is an immersive play style, that is, more at stake than just victory over the current encounter or the accumulation of experience. Therefore my objective is to increase the RPing to make the game more like the preferred playing style listed above. However actual play is closer to 66% Action/Combat in my current campaign.
As a player I require some time to get into character and I have a strong tendency to be proactive and I expect players in my games to do the same.
I run an AD&D (2nd ed) game on mondays and play in a 3.5 D&D on thursdays so I'm looking for committed players. As a player I just want to try something new. I have 6 players in my AD&D game and therefore could only allow in a player who doesn't mind dealing with a large established group that has been together for nearly 18 years. The DM in the 3.5 D&D game is looking actively for new players (there are currently 3 players & the DM), but does not have access to the internet.
I would be willing to play on another evening in any game, except 3.x D&D or 4E D&D.
