I have been stuck in a DMing rut for to long, I want to actually get in and play the game itself, be part of the adventure. I enjoy RP immensely but I do understand that a lot of the excitement comes from combat and I do enjoy that as well. I am kind of artsy with my combat I tend to enjoy describing how my character is before the action and use certain powers and abilities to enhance the visual RP aspect of my characters and their combats since I believe that adds a lot to fleshing out the character as a whole. However I don't wish to overpower the game, I enjoy hearing descriptive and exciting scenes involving other characters just as much as mine. I have hit that point in my gaming career that I find myself obtaining the most rewarding and entertaining gaming experience from my fellow players being just as excited about their characters as I am about mine, but also with a healthy dose of curiosity about my character; the same amount of curiosity I find myself afflicted with over the creativity that can come from another persons mind, not just my own.
I have been gaming for what I consider a long time (time being relative to the fact I am only 22 and while it's a long time to me it's simply a blink of the eye for others) starting kind of later then some when I was a sophomore in high school. I lied actually, I played D&D once when I was about 12 but it did not catch with me till latter. It did however shape my video gaming career for many years...I am slave to RPG's no matter the medium, heh. I enjoy fantasy and sci-fi the most of any genre, D&D, Star Wars, and Battletech RPG dominating most of my pen and paper. My true calling though, the universe that sets my blood ablaze with ambition, is Warhammer 40k, I know their is an RPG but I have to get my hands on it; that and 4e are soon to be dominating my gaming table I imagine. I LOVE RP, nothing and I mean nothing gets me more excited at the gaming then a healthy dose of good RP, and I stress healthy dose. RP is wonderful and I believe should be used at all times and should be done in game at all times, however I am also a firm supporter of combat being one of the 3 pieces that makes a damn good time at the gaming table. The third piece of course being imagination...corny I know, but ohhh so true.
