First encounter: complete. Thanks MetroKnight for stopping by and giving a name to our pre-generated folk-hero-fighter (Little Jon). As far as I know, we still have 2-3 slots open for other players. Thanks spidey for being our OOC rules lawyer. If anyone wants to chime in on my question of...

Anything you want. However, the more rules you write is the more tactical you can get. The fewer rules you write is the more you depend on rule zero. I was aiming for simplicity with my system, and drew a lot from Skyrim and Final Fantasy to do it. Let's see how many rules it took: -...

I hope this means, "if you're an expert die roller, and can call your roll 9 times out of 10, then you can easily call the result with some confidence." If it means, "if you've recorded every roll you've ever made, then you'll be able to predict your next roll," it will need more justification. ...

Hey, it works for Martians. ;D (obscure sci-fi reference) Also reminds me of the old school grognard munchkins who would gently heat their old dice in a frying pan, because the process used would embed air-bubbles inside of the plastic, and heating them slightly would allow the bubbles to...

it largely depends on how you hold the RGU, and subsequently release the RGU. if one could control their spatial positioning such that they hold the RGU the exact same way each and every time, release the RGU at the exact same spatial positioning with the exact same amount of force each and...

Note: I need descriptions for monster-swarm tactics... SwarmsMore often than not, one monster will have several friends. A swarm is any group of monsters numbering four or more that generally move as a group. Except for health, their scores are the same as the individual monsters of that type....

Let me rephrase: Do you want armor types to be simpler, or more complex? Your original post says that armor types are only different by 1 armor point, so "what's the point?" Which I interpret as, "armor isn't complex/interesting enough." The OP also says that armors should be reduced to...

If you're using grid coordinates, you're wandering out of the realm of rules-light. I guess you could probably keep it fairly simple, though: - pieces move up/down, left/right, in a number of spaces equal to their Speed. - movement through walls or other pieces are not allowed. (Unless you're a...

Why bother? Well, you're excluding the rest of the differences in armor types, so, you have some sort of straw-man argument here. 3rd edition armors has different descriptions, costs, armor bonuses, weights, encumbrances, hindrances (ACPs), and mobility (max dex). That's a good variety. 5th...

i recall rolemaster has 20 armor types, and what amounts to an efficiency rating versus each type of damage possible in the game. it was a nice degree of granularity, but not everyone likes 'chartmaster', especially the rules-lire crowd.

Sorry if it's lost in translation, but it sounds to me like you're not getting enough mileage out of the GM-fudge rule. Related to Rule Zero. If you're playing a game like D&D, all you need to know is your character's level, which will give you an appropriate bonus to add to your die roll. You...

Thanks for the invite to be a friend I read your bio and I feel your pain, I just moved to a new place and I can't find a soul that plays RPG's. I've played RPG's since Fifth grade....I just turned 38 so I've been playing a while! I look forward to reading your next Ravenloft installment! Talk to you later!

Hey, I just saw your comments on my blog. Thanks! Mentioning the fire beetles, I actually sweated it a little bit there. I thought those beetles would toast the party. I continue to be amazed at how resiliant these 4E characters can be. We had another session on Monday. We added another player and I'm glad. It's a hybrid bard/warlord. I'm glad too, because I think I put a little to much challenge into it. I used bug bears but could never get combat advantage against the party so the bugbears just slugged it out. I'll try to get the blog out tomorrow. Take it easy.

Man, I'm enjoying reading your blog. Wish I was back in So Cal so I could join your game. I was down in Pedro on business last week. Sure was nice to visit. My trip was too short. Liked your reviews on the shows. Last time I was in Vegas I did the Star Trek things, Mandalay Bay Aquarium and the Luau (As Vegas as you can imagine) thing at the Imperial Palace where I stayed. I didn't gamble at all but there's definatley plenty to do there without that.
  5. I didn't hear anything about the starwars campaign in a while now, are you still going to do it?

I was told you are really good with star wars stuff. Thom Amon told me I should get in touch with you for my question. started making my charecter last night and I could not find any Togruta (Shaak Ti). So can I still play that race and if so how would I make stats. If no one knows it is fine I will just play as cathar. Or you can find it in the star wars stuff under Starting a Charector.

About Me
Biography:
I'm 30 years old. I've GMed various games to my home gaming group in WV, but after moving to CA I was finding myself withdrawling from the lack of roleplaying games. I've played since high school (as mentioned above) so I have a lot of experience under my belt but don't think I'm a rules lawyer. I just enjoy a laid back time with a good night's gaming storyline with some great people. As For Games I've played and/or ran the following: Dungeons and Dragons (from 2nd edition-4th edition), Star Wars (my favorite was when it was d6, but I've ran and played the d20 version.), White Wolf's Vampire the Masquerade, Werewolf the Apocalypse, Changling, Wraith, Vampire and Werewolf Dark Ages, as well as Abberant, Shadowrun (though didn't care for it much), Call of the Cthulu, and World of Warcraft RPG.

Reaper Mini Kickstarter

I know this is my blog, but I recently pledged to a kickstarter for the Reaper miniatures line "Bones". I'm not one to usually advertise for a company but this is so sick I thought I'd share it on here. So Reaper Minis have recently launched their BONES collection and they were looking for ways to explode their line. They've already surpassed that goal....but the deals you get for being a pledge member are just incredible. Currently for a 100 dollar pledge you are getting

New Group? Possibly

by Tamerath on 02-26-2010 at 12:51 PM
It feels like forever ago when I used to post to my blogs on this site. It's good to be back though. The topic of today is finding a good gaming group. My last group was awesome, nothing bad to say about them other than I can't seem to get back in the game for one reason or another. So it's back to hitting the pavement to find another group of players willing to game with me and my fiance.

I posted a fresh and new campaign in the registry http://www.penandpapergames.com/foru...ad.php?t=15170

Hall of Maiden's Trap Encounter
