I am thrilled to announce that version 1.21 of my sharebrewed game, Modos RPG, is now available for your roleplaying pleasure! Lots of other great games out there, so why should you try this one? It's free! Which means that all you have to do to get it is click a few buttons. It...

Writing homebrews is lots of fun! Writing -good- homebrews is lots of work! I'm talking about homebrewed RPG rules, so I'll have to give you a completely different response if you were referring to homebrewed adventures or settings. Do as much playtesting as possible, to make sure that...

Nice post. You're off to a good start, since my internet ADD didn't kick in until I finished reading. The situation you described made me want to be the evil GM in a horror-game: "Sure. You climb down the well." Then I address the other players. "There's a flash in the water, as something...

Valid question, actually. Currently, the majority of physical damage can be reduced with armor. Which is to say that armor is equally effective against a fireball, poison gas, or an arrow (since all three affect the body physically). But I've been toying with the idea that as armor becomes...

Version 1.21 is on the horizon. It includes a rules module (Star Worlds and Dragons), a handful more monsters, full rules catalog for ease of adding your own rules, updated FAQ, hyperlinks, and an easy-on-the-eyes page background. The Skyrim game in the August mini-con used these rules, and PC...

Hi registered (and unregistered) players: I noticed that the game is listed, above, at being 75% roleplaying and 25% combat. While roleplaying should probably read "non-combat," I realized that the game is still a bit heavy on the combat side, and could run beyond our 3-hour time limit if I...

4-month update: well, lots of the facts are out now. I have to say, the similarities between 5E and my homebrew (was an open design process) are a little creepy. But 5E has a shining point: it looks to be 3E minus the large bonuses. AND 5E has invested in character backgrounds, all but forcing...

Some reflections on my homebrew here: In a melee, or close combat amongst several combatants, you generally have two choices: try to kill the guy next to you, or prevent yourself from being killed. Secondary choices are to protect your buddy from getting killed, or assist your buddy in killing...

This is a question for modern-genre players who have dabbled in medieval games: What does more damage: a .308 round or a battleaxe? or a more subjective question: How does "damage" from medieval games compare to "damage" from modern games?

Hmmm...let's weigh in: Setting = Campaign World = where a campaign takes place. Campaign = collection of adventures tied together with a theme. Or a Macguffin. Adventure = a roleplaying introduction, climax, and denouement. Session = one sitting of a roleplaying game. QED

To add some rhyme and reason to our game, we'll use the following conventions during the game: Marching order: The party will choose a default formation in which to move. This can be whatever you want; a column is most common in dungeons. You must also determine who stands in each position. ...

Thanks for the invite to be a friend I read your bio and I feel your pain, I just moved to a new place and I can't find a soul that plays RPG's. I've played RPG's since Fifth grade....I just turned 38 so I've been playing a while! I look forward to reading your next Ravenloft installment! Talk to you later!

Hey, I just saw your comments on my blog. Thanks! Mentioning the fire beetles, I actually sweated it a little bit there. I thought those beetles would toast the party. I continue to be amazed at how resiliant these 4E characters can be. We had another session on Monday. We added another player and I'm glad. It's a hybrid bard/warlord. I'm glad too, because I think I put a little to much challenge into it. I used bug bears but could never get combat advantage against the party so the bugbears just slugged it out. I'll try to get the blog out tomorrow. Take it easy.

Man, I'm enjoying reading your blog. Wish I was back in So Cal so I could join your game. I was down in Pedro on business last week. Sure was nice to visit. My trip was too short. Liked your reviews on the shows. Last time I was in Vegas I did the Star Trek things, Mandalay Bay Aquarium and the Luau (As Vegas as you can imagine) thing at the Imperial Palace where I stayed. I didn't gamble at all but there's definatley plenty to do there without that.
  5. I didn't hear anything about the starwars campaign in a while now, are you still going to do it?

Good hearing from you. How have you and the better half been these last 2 months? Good, i hope. Hows' her school going? What have you been up too? I am hoping to join in next week with your Ravenloft campaign, if the home remodel project is done by then, or course. I hope.

I was told you are really good with star wars stuff. Thom Amon told me I should get in touch with you for my question. started making my charecter last night and I could not find any Togruta (Shaak Ti). So can I still play that race and if so how would I make stats. If no one knows it is fine I will just play as cathar. Or you can find it in the star wars stuff under Starting a Charector.

About Me
Biography:
I'm 30 years old. I've GMed various games to my home gaming group in WV, but after moving to CA I was finding myself withdrawling from the lack of roleplaying games. I've played since high school (as mentioned above) so I have a lot of experience under my belt but don't think I'm a rules lawyer. I just enjoy a laid back time with a good night's gaming storyline with some great people. As For Games I've played and/or ran the following: Dungeons and Dragons (from 2nd edition-4th edition), Star Wars (my favorite was when it was d6, but I've ran and played the d20 version.), White Wolf's Vampire the Masquerade, Werewolf the Apocalypse, Changling, Wraith, Vampire and Werewolf Dark Ages, as well as Abberant, Shadowrun (though didn't care for it much), Call of the Cthulu, and World of Warcraft RPG.

Reaper Mini Kickstarter

by Tamerath on 08-05-2012 at 02:14 PM
I know this is my blog, but I recently pledged to a kickstarter for the Reaper miniatures line "Bones". I'm not one to usually advertise for a company but this is so sick I thought I'd share it on here. So Reaper Minis have recently launched their BONES collection and they were looking for ways to explode their line. They've already surpassed that goal....but the deals you get for being a pledge member are just incredible. Currently for a 100 dollar pledge you are getting

New Group? Possibly

by Tamerath on 02-26-2010 at 12:51 PM
It feels like forever ago when I used to post to my blogs on this site. It's good to be back though. The topic of today is finding a good gaming group. My last group was awesome, nothing bad to say about them other than I can't seem to get back in the game for one reason or another. So it's back to hitting the pavement to find another group of players willing to game with me and my fiance.

I posted a fresh and new campaign in the registry http://www.penandpapergames.com/foru...ad.php?t=15170

I didn't know Obsidianportal existed till today when I got the email that our site "allied" to them. Fortunate for me, I checked it out and found a really cool tool to all of us dms out there. Hall of Maiden's Trap Encounter

The Maidsí of Strahd XP 2,400
Stained lace hangs neatly from eight canopied beds. In each bed, a figure of a young woman lays motionless, pale hands folded over her chest. In the eighth bed lay Ireena Kolyana dressed not in the armor you last saw her in, but a white wedding dress.
