I know I got several of them, but I think not all! Could be, though I thought they were both entirely missed! It's actually sort of odd to me that I've introduced no less than four 'alternative lifestyle' characters into this story (me being straight n' all), even though only one of...

About roughly half of my posts from the last year or so are filled with obscure song references, but if anyone actually did get all of them, I'd worry for their mental health. Also I could have sworn someone did say Helbert Strand when we were guessing your other LGBTs, but maybe I only think...

Guess you're gonna have to go back and read it again, then. ;) I actually don't expect it to be relevant to any of the rest of the story, by the way.

I did reveal Kenlan's real first name once. I'm not sure anyone picked up on that. Never have revealed his last name, though, and I kind of doubt I ever will.

The Risks of Subtlety (or: Am I Daft?) by I. J. Thompson  So, me n' DogSolitude were talking on Skype last night. Of course the conversation turned at one point toward Tapestry, and I was surprised to learn that, near the end of this post, the two Camaasi(sp?) characters who entered...

That works great! I don't think the farmer will play a major role, but he might figure into the next couple of scenes in a minor way. I just always want to be careful when someone else introduces an NPC to make sure I'm not radically altering that player's vision for that character right at first.

I admit I had nothing in mind about the farmer, since I didn't expect him to become involved in the story. :) But since he might, Mith visited with the farmer briefly, as a means of gathering intelligence on the ships that were on the farmer's property. More or less to verify when they arrived,...

Hey, Dog (or anyone else who might know), is there any back story to the farmer who owns the land we're camped out on? When Mith arrived on the scene, you mentioned that he came from the direction of the farmhouse. Do Mith and the landowner have a history, or is that just chance? Do you have any...

    I. J., don't get me wrong, there are plenty of names I've come up with that don't have any significance beyond just sounding cool, but those aren't the stories I'm sharing now because, well, they're not really stories.

Cool! I like reading your responses. Glad to know I'm not the only one who puts some extra thought into names. Here's a summary of some of mine: Mith'Tomax Menkar: Mith, because originally his life/story was going to revolve around a myth/legend. Tomax sounded cool, and is the clan name...

It's interesting to me that you guys have meanings for all those names. I always chose mine based purely on the sounds they made, and thought that everyone else did, too! :D Although now that I think about it, one of my names had hidden meaning: LX-00. In theatre, the term 'LX' indicates a...

Zealos- was named for the greek god of rivalry, Zelus. Which is why Zealos argues with everyone. About everything. Whydah- was named after the Whydah Gally, a slavership, captured and turned pirate, by Captain Black Sam Bellamy, which promptly sunk two months later, at the cost of almost all hands.

You're right, this is a fun question! I tend to do the same things when I name things, drawing upon symbolism and reference. I occasionally use those references to help inform myself of where I could potentially go with the character. Tam's first name is a direct reference to Simon and River...

Dawncaller, I'm totally going to try to work in some kind of reference to that. Kenlan won't actually be dressing like a bantha, but I'll figure out some way to refer back to that. Dog (and everyone else), I don't remember where the name Kenlan came from, but As-Buka comes from the Russian word...

Interesting behind-the-scenes question! Here are some of mine: Fiola Shaku: Some years ago me and another guy wrote and produced a stage musical, where one of the characters' names was 'Phee'. While I loved the sound of that name, I always hated when two letters would combine to make a sound...

Topic for next chat (or if you'd like to post about it here): I'd like to know how people decide on their character names/ship names/planet names, etc. I tend to use a lot of symbolism in mine (which most people wouldn't recognize if they didn't know the reasoning), and wonder how the rest of you...

You really shouldn't have missed this one, Ubiqtorate. We've decided to take the whole story in a new direction entirely. You'll see the whole picture as the other players write, but we need you to have Kenlan dress up as a Bantha, dance like Oola, and spin an X-Wing on his finger like a...

It appears we can't make a private room. The new details are on the event page. Also whatever we type seems to remain in the room indefinitely, so bear that in mind. I'm not sure what people didn't like about the old chat, but that's progress, I guess.

Odd... So how do we create a private room and stuff? And that was a great post, Fingon! I know you expressed some concerns about that post, but part of the beauty of writing for Tam is his volatility. He can fly off the handle with ease, per the needs of the writer(s).
