Some "cursed" items I see as misused. The necklace of strangulation for example. It's an assassination tool, not a cursed item. It does exactly what it is meant to do.

The roll many pick one is an Iron Claw mechanic. You skill/ability is based on the dice and type you get to roll from d4 to d12 and the number of dices, some times of mixed types.

Sumptuary laws refer to restrictions on consumption. Restricting purple and ermine to the King, not allowing non nobles to wear silk clothing or gold in their clothing. The purpose was to make sure you could judge someone's class by their clothing. Very much tied into the idea that "clothes...

Hmm sumptuary laws. I should go back through and include that category. In the case of the Eyrian Empire they are specifically forbidden. Nobility is identified by its actions, never its clothing. In places like the Domains and Anorian sumptuary law is rife.

Another possibility is pure average. When this 1000 fights that 1000 what is the average damage done by each side? This does tend to devolve into a bloody fight of attrition. One can modify it with morale the side with better morale gets an advantage. Be that fighting on home turf, a...

If the target can mitigate the damage over time, IE stop it from doing its full damage I would make it lower level than the all at once spell, that obviously cannot be stopped once the damage is done. If that is not the case. I would keep them the same level. Providing the damage potential is...

The ridged story arc I believe is an artifact of the ore-peropared module. By necessity they cannot be too free form. However GMs that grow up on this think that is how it should be done. Groups like the RPGA and Pathfinder Society do not help in the least as their games pretty much drag the...

The simplest method I have found is to mirror the PCs in the army they fight with. The better they win the better the margin of victory. They worse they lose likewise. For any battle I give each PC two or three hero fights. There section of the army fairs exactly as they do. Oh and the...

Never do, protect the PCs from themsevles of each other that is. The right to fail is inherent in the game. Players that put their character on the sideline will find that character sidelined. The game is about going and doing, not sitting in the counting house.

About Me
Real Name:
Garry Stahl
Biography:
I am Garry, I live in Dearborn, MI with the world's greatest Wife, three cats and a ball python.

I am an aging SF fan with too much time on his hands. I'm a long time wargamer and role-player. I have played some form of D&D since 1976. I'm an old Grognard and take a certain pride in that fact. I didn't start playing in school, they had to invent it first. Besides, have you tried to carve a character sheet out in stone?

Other games I have played?
I have played so many different games I forget. I'm willing to try almost anything once, but limited time means the days of four times a week gaming are long gone. I am also a model builder, somewhat musician, writer, Father, Husband, general handy man and computer enthusiast. I use Linux (openSUSE) and spend way too much time on the Internet.

Last Saturday we at long last got rid of the 90 year old windows a in this 90 year old house. The change is amazing. No rattles, hardly any road noise, and best of all no drafts.

This comes courtesy of my wife wining the perfect loan contest at Quicken Loans where she works, The prize money paid for the new windows. Yea we are that domesticated, or homeowners, much the same really. Win a big prize

I have noticed that the Fantasy campaign resources forum gets very little love. You go back four pages and you are back four years.

Well there is some good stuff in those pages that doesn't get any attention anymore. To rectify that I have been posting in those forums to bump the material to the front. To get the attention of people that have joined in the interval since it was posted, and slowly rolled off the front pages.

As mentioned in the past I am slowly getting

Once more into the breach...

by tesral on 10-18-2014 at 12:44 AM
Back again the intertubes have been boring.

I have not been idle gaming wise. My Saturday group has started a new campaign with a Norse feel. They are out to become the rulers of the north.

I have been working to get my long running game down in some coherent fashion. Two complete cities, Seahaven and Woodmanor two villages of importance Joy Island, and Malltranno, two more cities started Eyrie Keep and Hellsgate.

My ancient and crumbling world maps

To blog or not to blog?

by tesral on 02-19-2011 at 01:19 AM
With some of the profile features back I decided to give the blogs another look. I still see no way to edit the blogs once posted.

I don't have much to add right now. Gaming tomorrow. Last session got canceled due to people being sick or the weather being awful. I am jonesing for a game at this point.

Blog edited. Thank you Farcaster.

After Action, May 30th.

Ron -- Johnny male Elf, Toymaker
Sue M -- Sharpy female 1/2 Elf fighter
Tom -- Sy male mostly human psionic
Sue S -- Nelida female mostly Human cleric with a few tricks.

The session started with a bit of basking in the successful run to New City. It was decided to do some intelligence on the other gangs in the area, and see what it was going to take to absorb them. Discussed were:

The Wallmen, a gang pieced together out of two fighting groups.
