- What are you looking for?:
- I like to keep my games open for anyone and everyone. I am not too concerned about party balance as an off-balance party can create loads of fun, especially watching a non-rogue trying to disarm a trapped chest!
I run my D&D Games in the Forgotten Realms primarily, since that world has more documentation than any other world (does Mystara or Greyhawk have its own Interactive Atlas?) and it is the world I know best.
I do not care for powergamers or metagamers. I do like players who foil the best laid plans of the GM with clever thinking. The entire point of the game is to have fun participating in the story and really getting in depth with your character, perhaps to the point where you are sad to see the end coming. (BTW, this is the exact reason I use the name Mudgrubber!)
About Me
- Biography:
- I am 45, married, with three teenage sons. Eric lives in South Dakota going to a trade school, Sterlin is now at MCRD San Diego, and Robert is in 7th grade. He and my wife Sandi play D&D only, and she always plays wizards. I once had a gaming group of which three were in the military (now since gone), one got married (now his wife owns him) one is married-with-children (ditto), and the only other one left is one of the original founding members of our Shadowrun group, and we are both looking for SR players. He does not play D&D, so my wife and I are looking for players for my campaign as well as a group with which we can play. We prefer to game on Saturdays, although Friday night would be a possible option.
I started with the Basic Set in the mid-80s where I ran my first game. I played AD&D 2E for a while, but it kept getting more and more detailed until I just got burnt out.
3E rekindled my love for D&D after 2E ruined it for me, and that is where my heart lies, as well as my games. 4E is not for me. IMO, the characters start out too powerful. The entire point of D&D is to see your character grow as the game is played, not just in skills and feats, but in character development. It is one thing to start off knowing certain combat maneuvers, but it is the background that makes a memorable character, which to me is something 4E has abandoned in favor of powergaming. Feel free to object.
