tried that at one point. Too complicated in that D&D would start to look like Rollmaster from the number of charts it required for exactly the reasons you give. Gave up on it.
These days I have become one with the abstraction,
I used to use a two step system of saves at one third and two thirds damage to keep fighting. Unlike the demodivators above not everyone fight to the last drop of blood.
I replaced that with massive damage. However it isn't a fixed number but goes up depending on you hit die. Con+ d6=1, d8=2,...
Exactly. My preference for Pathfinder over D&D 3.5 comes from their efforts to eradicate the No monster. The Old School approach, anything not forbidden is permitted. Followed by forbid very little.
You Malruhn are Old School. So sayth the Dean.
Primers should be primers, not encyclopedias. I have the same issue with the Vista City game world. A sizable wiki now exists of that game, but a primer for it must need be much shorter.. A game starting there does not need the information I have available, it would bury them. They need to make...
Trek Creative Wiki: A resource for games if you will.

Static on the radio. Bubba tapped the tuning button again. Finally the station came through. "This is your Midnight Rambler. Something is staking the dark alleys of Vista City. Two men skeletonized and a skinhead found plum mad screaming about worms. Keep you heat close...
Rule one for a detailed world: Never throw anything away. Much easier in this world of tereabyte hard drives. One doesn't get buried by paper that way. I came close at one point.
I have several artifacts from my game sitting on the desk right now. Two are hand written, one typed on my old...
Yep, Updated again. Many new items. Digging thpough the old papers I found three more, two loose and one held to add as well.
I need to add an appendix of the materials and the spells in use.
Glop: A gallon flask that gurgles and bubbles with a blackish brown ooze. Glop can be eaten or drunk (kinda). Glop will heal your wounds instantly (kinda). Glop fills the cuts and punctures with glop skin, a shinny blackish brown film. For every ten points of glop healed damage you have you...
I try to keep the same version of openSUSE on both my laptop and my desktop. It's easier that way. My laptop is slowly falling behind.
"The Beast", the desk top and the case. All Scale Trek forum shown.
GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) is a great tool. It beats Photoshop in one very important category, price. And it runs on all OS platforms.
I'm having a few issues with the changes made in 2.8 Leaning curves suck.
Not to hijackthe thread by my elxcierace with 2e was that things like the skills system crippled certain classes as to being a yes game. Likewise feats hobbled anyone bet a fighters as the feat trees required lots of feats as only fighters had.
I tried ot build a broadly knowledgeable...
Back again the intertubes have been boring.
I have not been idle gaming wise. My Saturday group has started a new campaign with a Norse feel. They are out to become the rulers of the north.
I have been working to get my long running game down in some coherent fashion. Two complete...
Lightweight? I like medium weight myself. I'm enough of a war gamer to like a bit of crunch in my game. True 20 is way to light for my taste. On the other hand a simulationist combat system takes way too muich time and effort.
What do I like? Yes systems. A system that doen't default to...
I have one player I would rather give a +5 sword than a qual's feather token and a "useless item"
I gave out these spectacles that either drew a lighter object to you or you to a heavier object, what every you looked at. Man he abused the hell out of that thing.
Right now they have the Aesir...
Dark Future, Fantasy, Modern, Post Apocalyptic, Space Opera
AD&D (1e), D&D 3.5, Pathfinder, Shadowrun
Greyhawk, Forgotten Realms, Golarion, Homebrew (but pretty much open to whatever)
Preferred Playing Style:
50% Roleplaying / 50% Combat
Ideal Group Size:
Medium Groups (Between 4 and 6 players)
What are you looking for?:
Pretty much locked in a game now, but any group I'd join for a second game would have to be mature players looking for a "beer and pretzels" sandbox game, casual, but with a good roleplaying core.
I started playing AD&D in 1979, and have played a variety of games. D&D (3.5), Pathfinder, and Shadowrun are favorites, but any old school games (CoC, Runequest, Champions), HERO System or WEG Star Wars would fit the bill. Not into WoD stuff, though.
