I tend to prefer to lend an ear to roll play and allow players to try things even if they haven't got the abilities to justify doing so. Like a whirlwind attack attempt at level 2. I give penalties to it of course. But they are situation based and lack of experience based in the above example you...

For a time I used a Critical to location system. Every base location head, 2x arms, 1 or 2 locations for wings(if you got em), Chest, abdomen, 2x legs, and a tail if you have that which differed in chance of hit based upon type of tail a lizard mans tail is easier to hit than a cats. Then we used a...

Yeah that is about what i figured. I tend to write up complex histories and mythologies for my worlds and then rarely get to pull from any of it. Sometimes I'm able to have characters play for a couple months and then pick the game back up several months later due to life. When this happens the...

*Wizards can overcast (casting more than allowed number of spells), Each spell takes a round action to cast going off after the last initiative and There is a progressively worsening chance of Backlash. *Backlash is not just caused by overcasting other things cause it too like crit-fail an...

Hi, gang! Since everyone's talking about PC's, I figured I'd lay mine out. I went ahead and made my own-- a human fighter with Battlerage Vigor; so she's a bit of a striker-build. Does anyone know if Yawgmoth is making a PC? Because if everyone is picking a pre-generated one but me, I may feel...

Wow, some people take things way too seriously. I could never torture my dice like that, imagine how poorly they'd roll afterwards?

This makes me want to roll every dice I have with an excel spreadsheet ready to record and find their averages. Which, I guess, means "yes" we believe in diminishing probability? If you have a record of the last 50 rolls of a dice, and are familiar with the results before rolling, and you feel...

Does that actually exist? Well... apparently so. Interesting way to adjust the probability of a roll. But after a few bored moments of staring at d20's I think they're built against that type of thing. The 2 and 8 sides are next to the 20. It might be possible to use Dice Control on a...

Some people have that special dice that most recently rolled a NAT 1, meaning its less likely to roll a 1 again in the future because the odds that it rolls 1 twice are 1/400 right? How true is that, or is it just superstition? This is basically the same as the old "flip a coin three times"...

Simpler. Basically "an armor by any other name would still add +X Defense, so why do we have a bunch of tables listing various armor names and the one point of difference between them when not naming them would work just as well, save page space in print, and be easier to record on a character...

This is the plan. I'd rather not have three separate boxes on a character sheet for Slashing, Bashing, and Piercing defense. I'd rather give armor a Damage Reduction to the one(s) its resistant to and keep it simple. (Same for damage types like Fire / Arcane / Acid etc.)

you could easily give the armor with say high resistance to piercing damage a few points of damage reduction or have it cause an attack penalty so you don't have to compare a bunch of different AR values. Just modify what the bonus does a little and you still get your realism without a lot of rules

Like I mentioned in the second post, incorporating specific protections against damage types isn't hard with the proposed rules-lite version, and was of course going to be included either way. Realism is a good place to start, but when it gets in the way of function it can be sacrificed without...

Well that (the specific damage type protection) is still applicable. Generic armor that provides only a +# AR would be the standard, but also available would be armors that provide damage redcution from certain types of attacks. Bashing, Slashing, Fire, Acid, and so on. So you're not missing out on...

So in D&D and however many other RPGs there are a plethora of armors, not really much different from one another. Scale Mail. Breastplate, and Banded Mail all have their "how they were made and what of" text blocks, but statistically the armor rating difference is usually by one point. So why even...

About Me
Real Name:
Jenni
Biography:
I played talisman as a kid and I still enjoy it today. I used to make characters using GURPS and draw them on paper for fun. I do a lot of artwork and sometimes I like to include that in my character creation for some games. I have also attended the SCA(The Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc.) since I was 5 years old with family of course, so I have a lot of background in role playing. A few years ago a friend of mine let me join in on a few D&D games with some others and I really had a lot of fun, so I am looking forward to exploring more in to it.
