Emphasis on clever gameplay mechanics- not just a split between straight roleplaying and combat, but a focus on puzzles, situations requiring thought to solve- for instance, if expected to prevent a sorcerer from finishing a spell which does Very Bad Things, I'd prefer the kind of games where, assuming it was in keeping with my character and the stronghold's composition supported it (wood, other flammables as important building materials), arson was an option- don't make a suicidal run into the fortress if you can avoid it.
Novice; want to get into pen-and-paper RPGs, but it's somewhat difficult to find a game locally.
