I've created a post in the staff forums here and PMd the admins about a number of issues to make them aware of some of these types of things. So we're sorry for the delay in response and the inconvenience. I can't give any estimation of time for response or action on these, but just know that the...

Sorry I don't have a cellphone or laptop or anything, let alone pads or tablets or such. All I've got is my computer I built myself off the net in 2005. But I'll still look through the game and the site and see if anything comes to mind. =)

Then I might be willing to talk to some people I know and give D&D one more try. I hated 3.5 and PF and 4 were only marginally better, and I only had the early release stuff for 5 but it didn't look appreciably different to me, but I'm willing to keep an open mind about it. But I lean toward games...

See, this is why I think and always try to remember mods and to the larger extent, the admins like Matt and Farcaster, are really so laudable. They get complaints, sometimes angry, very nearly accusatory and condemning ones, and they work on fixing the issue at hand - hearing the CONTENT of the...

I can see over a period of time of playing a character, you can easily answer 36 questions and definitely all the ones you list above. But that's with a character that has grown and developed, and you've gotten a good feel for. I think to a large extent, that simply can't be asked for new...

It's this kind of outside the box, out-of-context thinking I think is valuable to anything, including RPGs. Gaming IS most commonly know from video games, so this is definitely relevant, both implicitly, because gaming, through whatever media, will have many of the same dynamics and features, and...

Hi there, I posit this as a possible character generation step for people to get a more well-rounded, three-dimensional character, working from a NY Times article. How could it be made better, if anyone is curious? Otherwise, maybe it will be helpful! I've linked to my blog post because the 36...

What are you looking for?:
Looking for players who are looking to play the kind of game that tells a good story. Ideal players are ones that don't let the rules or rule systems get in the way of having a good game. Would like to find players who can tap into their sense of wonder and adventure. Not looking for players who feel the night was wasted if they didn't gain three levels. Should be open to playing multiple game systems, and willing to try new ones.
About Me
Biography:
Been playing for a little over 30 years, starting with D&D (you know, the boxed sets where you had to fill in the numbers on the dice with a crayon? Remember, kids?) Prefer making my own adventures and campaigns, customizing to fit my group. Never use modules. I have a big oak table with room for me and up to six players, right near my RPG library. And wouldn't mind sitting on the other side of the screen once in a while.

I would rather live in a world where my life is surrounded by mystery than live in a world so small that my mind could comprehend it.

New Games and Old

by Dalkiel on 12-25-2012 at 02:38 PM
I've played a fair number of RPGs. I've got the books for dozens of different games, and tend to be a completest when I decide to add a game to the group repertoire. But with the huge number of games on the shelf, and the wide range of genres they represent, it's becoming rarer that I stumble on a game (new or old) that I feel brings anything new to the table. For example, I don't feel there's much that would be offered by the myriad of fantasy RPGs that seem to come out every year. I have

The Loss of a Good Friend and Fellow Gamer...

by Dalkiel on 10-27-2012 at 02:41 PM
We got quite the shock this past Friday. We had assembled for the weekly game, getting ready to play, and were waiting on one player, a fellow named Dave. We didn't think much about it at the time. The player was always at least on time, usually early. We also were aware of a large deployment of power company vehicles along his route, and expected he might have hit traffic and/or turned around to use an alternate route. But after an hour passed we started to worry, and I called his house number

The Reluctant Gamer

by Dalkiel on 02-20-2012 at 10:08 PM
I've been noticing more and more that gamers tend to focus on one game, and one game only. They may be a fan of literature or movies that span several genres (Fantasy, SciFi, Cyberpunk, Post Apocalypse, etc) but will only play one genre. And sometimes these players will go so far as to dismiss, or express disgust over, the other genres in context of gaming. Players and GMs alike find themselves frustrated when confronted with a gamer like this, and find themselves equally at a loss in finding a
