What are you looking for?:
I'm interested in running a D&D 4e campaign with a homespun setting. I'm a world-building junkie, and do my very best to flesh out world lore and societal, political, historical, and natural details as well as having a cohesive storyline. The world I'm currently building is a High Fantasy setting with steampunk elements, a world where technology is on the rise, and magic is looked upon as elitist and dangerous. While still grounded in D&D lore, such as races, religions, and some historical figures, the world is completely new, with many political powers and unique settings. I'd like to encourage the players to take part in more than just mercenary and "for the loot" adventures, and make them feel involved with the events in the world around them. I'd like to play with the same campaign and the same player characters over a long period of time, and grow and evolve the party and their world. Previous experience isn't necessary, but an imagination and an interest in cooperative storytelling is. Over all else, we're a laid back group looking to play and make friends.
I'm Josh, 25 years old, and I've been DMing D&D games since I was 14. I've run 3 campaigns that each lasted over a year of at least once a week play, and every time I've played I've made a lot of good friends. I favor story over hack and slash, but appreciate a good technical player as well. I consider myself a fairly decent writer, and my players always get very invested in my campaigns. When I do get a good group together, I'd prefer to play at least once or twice a week, for long periods (my last group played once a week from around 6pm to 2 or 3am!). I'm a laid back DM, and I want the players to have fun and be challenged, not only in combat but in roleplaying situations.
