What are you looking for?:
I am a tactical thinker. I enjoy combat and thinking about the best way to make use of abilities to defeat the enemy as a team. I have gone through a period during which I was more into roleplaying, and I do enjoy getting into it (I don't like self-aware gaming, but prefer getting into character, getting immersed in the situation and daydreaming about that dragon or castle etc.); however I'm not a good actor, and when gaming starts to feel like acting or a drama club then I have less fun. I have enjoyed Game Mastering a LOT. I prefer it, I think, but I'm a bit rusty at it because I haven't had much of an opportunity for it in a long time. I prefer playing games "by the book" as written rather than houseruling things to death, unless houseruling is necessary. I agree with the premise that "system does matter." I'm not really a forgie, but I know theory; I'd say I'm more 'gamist' and 'simulationist' than anything. Like, here's an example. Sometimes when I've played, someone will say, "Hey, I want to do this!" and it's some crazy/wild move in the midst of a fight. It often isn't something covered by the rules of the game, nor does it often make sense in terms of the physics of the universe of the game. But the GM might say "Hmmm..." and come up with some difficulty rating. The way I game is more about understanding the rules of the game and applying those rules. What does the game allow? Like I said, I think tactically. I enjoy consistent, deep gameworlds.
