Up there where I said Burning Wheel's one of my favorites? That's a dirty lie. I haven't played it yet. It is, however, one of the games I'm most interested in trying, along with Savage Worlds, Trail of Cthulhu, and Dresden or Spirit of the Century (or other FATE variant).
I'd like to find/form a group of like-minded individuals who want to play the field, as it were. Play a few sessions/months with one game, then try another. By design, and hopefully not just by having a game collapse. I have too much RPG wanderlust to be happy sticking with one game for years. Would like to both play and run games. I'm interested in playing just about anything, but have a preference for either light rules (Wushu, Over the Edge) or for mechanics that try to emulate genre or mood or reinforce play style (Burning Wheel, many more indie/story games). In other words, if it isn't fast, there'd better be a reason.
Combat's cool so long as I care about it. Fighting for fighting's sake is not so much my thing.
Favorite genres include horror (Call of Cthulhu/Delta Green especially), dark or gritty fantasy (like A Game of Thrones, Elric, Conan), and what I call modern-day weirdness (Unknown Armies, Over the Edge, Don't Rest Your Head). Not a big fan of high fantasy or supers, but if we're playing in shortish games of either, that's cool.
I've almost never had a regular group going, and the last one that was actually interested in playing anything other than D&D had three members move out of town with one more about to. I've played a handful of games, and am interested in many more. I have little experience GMing, but would like to try my hand at it again.
I also like card/board games, which I'm just recently getting into.
My schedule sucks when it comes to social activities. What you see on the chart is pretty accurate. I'm up late, but am free all day Sunday. Any other night owl gamers out there? Drop me a line!
