I agree that I also like "ostensibly" useless object, but ones which CAN be useful in the right circumstances. I gave out a pillow that a magic user could easily detect, though he didn't know its nature, so they kept it and traded it around and different people used it each night and eventually...

Looking good, I'll be interested to see how something like this works from scratch, start to finish. Actually giving a little info on each step or how you decide what to include or start would be helpful to some, I imagine. Like for me, I can do this too, come up with, maybe randomly, a basic...

Interesting. I'm not sure how to even start considering the "odds" on this type of thing. I suspect anything deliberately generated is likely, at least more likely than chance, to have at least slight bias, both on the part of the GM and Players, though I don't know if there is often enough...

When you say 2d6, do you mean pool (each individual die is its own result) or summed (2+3=5)? I presume you're talking about dice pools since the rest of your question seems to lean that way. Here is the thing on individual dice rolled in a pool. They each are their own individual objects with...

Well that's a given, all those variables you mention would assume to be relatively even or consistent. And obviously most trials are done in any experiment using in the hundreds or sometimes thousands because probability does seem to "pool" in certain threshholds, and smaller trials (of say 300...

I am also not a math whiz and never had a physics or probability or any classes that would be helpful in this example, but I think comparing a coin flip to a die roll is perhaps a flawed analogy because one is binomial and the other has a larger set of results. As you provided, probability is...

For simplicity, I feel you can't beat a small handful of differences, like Light (leather), Medium (mail or scale), Heavy (plate and mail) and maybe Full (plated armor), with only significant differences of multiple armor ratings in difference (2, 5, 7 and 9 for example). I do agree there are...

Hi there Cassie, and welcome to Pen and Paper Games! That was a great intro thread and you sound like someone that's easygoing person that also has a very clear idea of what you want in gaming, and who has a good number of different games under your belt, which is terrific! Good work on the post! ...

I wish I had that problem, where I accidentally made rules lite games. All my stuff keeps getting away from me with scope-creep and self-bloating. What I want to see or not see if a bit vague. That's like asking "What is your favorite solid object?" with no other criteria. In context of what?...

    Greetings!
I GM Palladium Fantasy for a small group. We are currently seeking serious gamers to join the campaign. I run about a 60/40 roleplaying/combat campaign. We like in depth character development, sweeping epic storylines, fantastic settings and a dynamic world setting. I am a storyteller so I use a lot of description and realistic NPCs. We like to laugh and we do joke, but we also very much enjoy serious in character gaming. I live in Franklin NH, but we do meet in Laconia occasionally. We always have dinner together, and the food is great. J Snack and drinks are typically brought by whoever is not hosting and cooking. We range in age from early 30s to 40. If you would like to know more please let me know.
    Best regards,
    Ed

About Me
Real Name:
Christy
Biography:
I co-lead the RPG team for Carnage game convention in Fairlee, VT (www.carnagecon.com); manage Elder Tunnels, a Tunnels and Trolls magazine by Peryton Publishing (www.perytonpublishing.com); and am assisting with the online tabletop RPG con AetherCon (www.aethercon.com).

In addition to helping run Carnage, I also attend TotalCon and Council of 5 Nations. I just started attending GenCon this past summer.

RPG systems I've enjoyed include Witch Hunter: Dark Providence, Call of Cthulhu, FUDGE, 7th Sea, Spacers, Triune, Tunnels and Trolls, Lamentations of the Flame Princess, Astonishing Swordsmen and Sorcerers of Hyperborea, Heroquest 2, Pathfinder, D&D, GI Joe, Hackmaster Basic, Fellowship of the White Star, Xandoria Galaxies, Savage Worlds, Dark Heresy, and Colonial Gothic. I had a great time with each of these games, and would probably be up for playing pretty much any RPG with a local group. I run a Dark Providence group and help my daughter run her D&D4e group.

Outside of gaming, I am an event manager and freelance editor. I have an academic background in ancient Near Eastern religions and Hebrew Bible. I am 43 years old, married, and have two children.
