What are you looking for?:
Right now I'm looking to play with a couple new systems that have just come out: D&D 5e and Demonwars Reformation. The latter you may not have heard of; it was a successful Kickstarter by R. A. Salvatore for a homebrew system and is set in Corona, the fantasy world of his Demon Wars novels. I don't know if I'm up for GMing both those systems, but I'd like to GM one and maybe play in another. As far as 5e goes, the Tyranny of Dragons stuff that is going on sounds pretty cool, so I'd prefer to run or play in that.

As far as my preferences at the table, a healthy mix of combat and roleplaying is always good. The characters don't live in a void; once they are "powerful enough," their actions can have great impact within their world and I like to see that. I love to design interesting character concepts "stat-wise" and once I choose them to be in a game I create the details of their background and what they are doing in the world. I also like GMs who are able to fit bits of players' backstory into the game and give a chance for the story to actually matter in character development. Hack and slash is also fun, but can become a bit boring if that is all one is doing. I've played in most of the "official" D&D worlds and don't really preference one over the other. The players and GM are the ones who really make the setting what it is.
About Me
Real Name:
Zak
Biography:
I started playing 3.5e in high school over a decade ago and table-top rpgs became one of my favorite activities. I played 3.5e extensively, greatly disliked 4e, so switched to Pathfinder. I've played the recent Star Wars rpgs as well and have found them to be amazing.

Non-game stuff: I'm finishing my Master's thesis in philosophy and will be applying to philosophy PhD schools this fall/winter (hopefully this doesn't take away too much free time, so that I can still run/play these games). I recently moved to Riverside, so I am looking for a new group with which to play.
