Real sheep that do what sheep do. they don't obey the caster follow them around or such. Eat grass, poop, and eventually make more sheep. Hmm it needs a big more explanation as to the kind of sheep. I think what ever variety are the most common in the area. To wit: Mass Sheep Summoning...

This forum does not get a lot of love. I was paging back thought the pages and I get 4 pages in and 6 years back. The question is do I necro those older threads to bring the content to people's attention or restart the threads? I tend to update stuff fairly frequently. I have two Wikis...

I'm going to necro this one to get the Atlas of Law back on the plate. This is a updated version, still has some boobies so NSFW. (Incidentally spoke to the Artist of that piece. It is like he read my mind on Domian Court fashion.)

tried that at one point. Too complicated in that D&D would start to look like Rollmaster from the number of charts it required for exactly the reasons you give. Gave up on it. These days I have become one with the abstraction,

I used to use a two step system of saves at one third and two thirds damage to keep fighting. Unlike the demodivators above not everyone fight to the last drop of blood. I replaced that with massive damage. However it isn't a fixed number but goes up depending on you hit die. Con+ d6=1, d8=2,...

Exactly. My preference for Pathfinder over D&D 3.5 comes from their efforts to eradicate the No monster. The Old School approach, anything not forbidden is permitted. Followed by forbid very little. You Malruhn are Old School. So sayth the Dean.

Primers should be primers, not encyclopedias. I have the same issue with the Vista City game world. A sizable wiki now exists of that game, but a primer for it must need be much shorter.. A game starting there does not need the information I have available, it would bury them. They need to make...

I always twisted the D&D rule about, "That which is not permitted is forbidden," into, "That which is not permitted is allowed and we'll crunch it out when it occurs."

I agree with that - "sandbox" scenarios and campaigns can be VERY well written... Something a published writer with whom I am friends just suggested was to consider WHY when writing. Also, if it isn't germane to the plot/idea, don't put it in. Nobody cares if the hero likes the smell of oleander...

As both a player or gm, I look for people with fairly high ethical and moral standards. I look for ones whose belief in something is strong enough to change their actions. I look for daily effort at success and remorse with renewed commitment at failure in those beliefs. Those beliefs need not necessarily be the same as my own, but I do look for as strongly held. It is people like these, whom in my personal experiences, are the most rewarding people to play with in game, and to know in life.

Traps for sale, new traps for old....

by nijineko on 10-09-2012 at 12:06 AM
A cat like me sees a lot of things sitting in odd corners. Few sentients pay attention to cats, unless we are making noise, or are trying to communicate on the move. Over the years, I have collected a number of interesting odds and ends. I once tried giving away a bunch of them, but it turned out that the operation of the various and sundry proved so complex, that it did not work out well for the poor recipient.

So I thought I would give some of them away one at a time. Drop me a line,

Character Generation....

by nijineko on 07-22-2011 at 01:29 AM
Unless specified otherwise on a per campaign basis, character generation uses the following method (please see further requirements at the end of this post):

4d6, drop lowest die, generate column of six stats.

Repeat twice more, generating two more columns.

No switching numbers between columns.

Pick best column.

Assign numbers from chosen column to stats as you see fit.

Apply racial / template / etc., adjustments.

Unearthed Arcana and fun variant rules....

by nijineko on 08-01-2009 at 05:36 PM
For general clarification, here is a list of things that are generally allowed, individual campaigns may vary...:

Chapter one: all.

Chapter two: all but the prestige versions of bard, paladin, and ranger; the gestalt characters (unless and until i run a gestalt campaign, that is), and the generic characters.

Chapter three: character traits, flaws, and spelltouched feats.

Chapter four: action points.
